AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.4: crash reports and detailed logging.

This is still an early preview. Please report what works and what doesn't in the issues. This release makes that a lot easier.

What's new

  • Crash reports: when a game stops on an error (not when you close it), the launcher shows why it stopped (the engine's crash report, a signal or exception, an abort, the exit code), with the system, the engine, the GPU and the end of the log.
  • Save crash_log.txt: saves the report with the whole log of that start and the last unlock's output.
  • Copy Report: puts the report and the last 200 log lines on the clipboard, ready for Discord.
  • Open an Issue: first shows exactly what will be shared, then opens a pre-filled bug report on the engine's GitHub (boykopovar/AnyPS5, or AnyPS5-ARM when its engine is in use), or Report a Launcher Bug on AnyPS5-Desktop. Your home folder, user and computer names, e-mail addresses and AnyTogether tokens are taken out of everything.
  • Last Session's Report: the same report, any time, in a game's options.
  • Detailed logging: Detailed Logging (Trace) in a game's options starts it with the engine's trace switches every time, Play with Detailed Logging does it once, and starting the launcher with --trace does it for every game until it closes.
  • Logs that don't fill your disk: a game log over 32 MB is set aside before a start, and one passing 256 MB while the game runs starts again.

Everything from 0.1.3 is here too: controllers in the launcher, the trophy card over the game, hidden trophies, system fonts for every game, sounds and theme songs, party join codes and a Discord link, full screen, the AnyPS5-ARM engine in the engine picker, family limits, mouse support and signed launcher updates.

Install

Windows 10/11 (x64): run AnyPS5-Desktop-Setup-0.1.4-x64.exe (per user, no admin needed). SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info → Run anyway. Portable: unzip AnyPS5-Desktop-windows-x64.zip and run anyps5_desktop.exe. Already on 0.1.3: the launcher offers this update by itself.

Linux (x64):

  • AppImage: chmod +x AnyPS5-Desktop-0.1.4-x86_64.AppImage, then run it.
  • Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt install ./anyps5-desktop_0.1.4_amd64.deb.
  • Archive: unpack the .tar.gz and run AnyPS5-Desktop/anyps5_desktop.
  • The launcher runs on glibc 2.34+ (Ubuntu 22.04 or newer). Games run through AnyPS5's current Linux engine, which needs glibc 2.38+ (Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39 or newer).

Then open the launcher, press Download the AnyPS5 engine and choose your games folder.

Checksums: SHA256SUMS lists every file, and SHA256SUMS.sig is its Ed25519 signature with the AnyPS5 release key (f8fe0d55df962105).

Requirements: a CPU and GPU that AnyPS5 supports (see upstream), and decrypted copies of games you own.
