AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.25

Choose a tag to compare

@utkuhalis utkuhalis released this 26 Oct 19:35

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.25 is the last release of the day: gyro aiming for every game, a USB DualShock 3 shows once and wakes up properly, you can type on your phone when a game asks for text, Assist Player 1 lets a second device help the first player, and Captures come to AnyTogether: share your screenshots and clips, like them and comment. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.11 brings gyro aiming, typing on the phone and Assist Player 1 to Windows and Linux, with a new Windows and Linux engine built from c06073a. The phone app AnyPS5 Remote 1.20 comes along. Like every release, it is signed.

Gyro aiming for every game

  • Aim with the motion of your pad: a DualSense, DualShock 4 or Switch Pro Controller, or a phone the launcher brings, aims in any game that aims with the right stick, on top of the stick itself.
  • Each game's Controls page starts with Gyro Aiming: sensitivity, invert, when it aims (always, while L2 is held or while touching the touchpad) and a dead zone.
  • The turn is read the way you hold the pad (yaw around gravity, pitch around the pad's own axis), smoothed per device.
  • Engine: ANYPS5_GYRO_AIM (docs/user/USAGE.md).

DualShock 3 on USB

  • One entry per pad. macOS 26 lists a USB DualShock 3 a second time as a generic "HID" controller; the launcher now pairs that copy with its own reader, so each pad shows once (the copy's input is used only while the reader gets nothing).
  • The PS3 enable handshake follows SDL and the Linux driver (feature reports 0xF2 and 0xF5, then 0xF4 only if needed), retried until the pad reports. The player light is set only once the pad has stayed, and never resent unchanged.
  • Dual-mode clones that start as "PS3 Controller" and switch to Xbox 360 mode after about a second now show as a single Xbox pad, with no ghost DualShock 3 entry.

Type on your phone

  • When a game opens its text dialog or keyboard, the phone app shows a typing sheet with your phone's own keyboard (the game's title, placeholder and starting text, its length limit and keyboard type), and the browser pad page shows a card with a text field.
  • What you type replaces the game's text, then Enter or cancel. It works on every remote pad channel; the phone that joins later gets the open prompt at once.

Assist Player 1

  • Settings → Controllers → Assist Player 1 picks who plays player 1 together with its holder, like the console's second controller for assistance: the Mac's other controllers, or one phone or browser pad.
  • A helping device takes no player of its own: its buttons, sticks, triggers and touch join player 1's (player 1 keeps its own motion), and player 1's vibration and light answer it.
  • Each Share Play guest with a pad gets an Assist Player 1 switch too.

Captures on AnyTogether

  • Share to AnyTogether from the gallery: a screenshot or a clip, with a caption, for Friends or Public. The clip size limit is said before you start.
  • Captures in Friends: see what your friends shared, like at once, and comment with replies. It all works with a pad.
  • A refused share says why, in words.

Also in this release

  • The phone app builds from a clean checkout: its adaptive launcher icon layers are now in the repository.
  • Engine: the text prompt (APRK) and typed text (APRT) datagrams, the assist flag (byte 13 = 1) and the assist datagram (APRA) on the remote pad bridge, and libSceIme keeps the prompt so a phone's text replaces the game's (docs/user/USAGE.md).

Phone app "AnyPS5 Remote" 1.20

  • Type on your phone: when a game asks for text, a sheet opens with the game's title and text, your phone's own keyboard and its Enter label; send or cancel.
  • Your phone can be the Assist Player 1 device, and its motion can aim with Gyro Aiming.

Windows and Linux: AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.11

  • Gyro aiming (each game's Controls page: Aim with the Gyro), typing on the phone (phone sheet and browser pad card) and Assist Player 1 (Settings → Controllers), as above.
  • New engine: AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-c06073a7a.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-c06073a7a.tar.gz / .zip (built on Ubuntu 22.04, glibc 2.35), with gyro aiming, typing and assist. The online, remote pad, AppContent, UserService and power control tests pass on both. Settings → AnyPS5 Engine in AnyPS5 Desktop offers them.

Install

Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer): already on 0.2.8 or later, use Settings → About → Update to 0.2.25 (or Restart Now on the update notice). Or:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/utkuhalis/AnyPS5-ARM/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

It puts AnyPS5.app in Applications and installs Rosetta 2 if it is missing. With AnyPS5-macOS.zip instead: unzip and open the app. The first time, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Games unlocked with an earlier version get the engine fixes when you choose Update and Play on them (your saves and trophies stay). A game with a dumped update is unlocked again to apply it.

Phone:

  • Android: open AnyPS5-Remote.apk on the phone and allow installing from your browser when asked.
  • iPhone (iOS 15 or newer): install AnyPS5-Remote.ipa with AltStore, SideStore or Sideloadly, which sign it with your own Apple ID.
  • No app: scan the launcher's QR code (Play from a browser).

Windows 10/11: run AnyPS5-Desktop-Setup-0.1.11-x64.exe (installs for your user, no admin), or unzip AnyPS5-Desktop-windows-x64.zip. SmartScreen may warn: More info → Run anyway. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.3 or later offers this update by itself.

Linux: AnyPS5-Desktop-0.1.11-x86_64.AppImage (chmod +x, run), sudo apt install ./anyps5-desktop_0.1.11_amd64.deb, or the .tar.gz. The launcher needs Ubuntu 22.04 or newer.

On Windows and Linux, press Download the AnyPS5 engine on first start (or update it in Settings → AnyPS5 Engine for gyro aiming, typing on the phone and Assist Player 1). For clips, install ffmpeg (Windows: winget install ffmpeg or put ffmpeg.exe beside the launcher; Linux: sudo apt install ffmpeg).

Engine files: AnyPS5-toolkit-macos-0.2.25-arm.zip is this release's engine for the Mac launcher's engine picker. AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-c06073a7a.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-c06073a7a.tar.gz / .zip are the Windows and Linux ones for AnyPS5 Desktop's. You don't need to download them yourself.

Signed: SHA256SUMS lists every file of this release and SHA256SUMS.sig is its Ed25519 signature (key f8fe0d55df962105). Check it with tools/release/verify.sh.

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.24

Choose a tag to compare

@utkuhalis utkuhalis released this 26 Oct 15:49

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.24 is the profiles release: everyone who plays on a computer gets their own profile, offline or online, with their own saves, trophies, settings and AnyTogether session, and Who's playing? at start. Friends can see a friends-only name and picture. Games read the DLC and updates you dumped yourself, the PS5's Game Presets come to every game, and on a MacBook Battery & Heat profiles stretch the battery and calm a hot Mac, live, mid-game. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.10 brings profiles, friends-only names, DLC, updates and Game Presets to Windows and Linux, with a new Windows and Linux engine built from ce334c8. The phone app AnyPS5 Remote 1.19 comes along. Like every release, it is signed.

Profiles

  • The first start asks how you want to play: Play Offline (no account needed; trophies and progress stay on this Mac, nothing is synced or shared) or Play Online (create an AnyTogether account or sign in with an email code, the website or your phone; friends, parties, Play Together, trophies and cloud saves that follow you). You can switch later.
  • Several profiles. Add Profile adds someone else who plays on this Mac. With more than one, Who's playing? greets you at start, with each profile's picture or tile colour, Online or Offline, and Playing now on the one in a game. Settings → Profiles → Ask Who's Playing at Every Start makes it ask every time.
  • Each profile keeps its own AnyTogether session (kept in the Keychain), settings, saves, trophies and Game Presets. A profile's saves are put in place when it plays, so nobody overwrites anyone else's game.
  • Switch Profile from a long press of PS in the launcher, or from the Options menu: Options/Start on a pad or right-click on Home (△ stays the game's settings). The Options menu also lists the other profiles and Add someone who plays here.
  • Go Online / Go Offline in the same menu. An offline profile goes online by signing in; going offline keeps trophies and progress on this Mac until you go online again.
  • Switching is blocked while a game runs ("Close game first"), and while saves are syncing.
  • Settings → Profiles sets the name, picture and tile colour, switches to another profile, or deletes one (its saves and trophies on this Mac are backed up to Documents → AnyPS5 → Backups first).
  • Existing users are migrated silently: your account, saves, trophies and settings become your first profile, with nothing to do.

Friends-only name and picture

  • Settings → AnyTogether → Friends-Only Name and Picture sets a name (your real name, say, up to 40 characters) and a picture that only your accepted friends see, always next to your @handle. Everyone else keeps seeing your public name and picture.
  • Friends see it in friends, party, Play Together and profiles, in the Mac launcher, AnyPS5 Desktop and the phone app. Set it or clear it there, or in the phone's profile editor.

DLC and game updates from your own dumps

  • Put the dumps of a game's update and add-ons next to the game, in the layout shadPS4 uses:
Games/
  PPSA01234/ the game
PPSA01234-UPDATE/ its update (PPSA01234-patch works too)
  PPSA01234-DLC/
EXPANSION0000001/ one folder per add-on, named by its label
UP0000-PPSA01234_00-COSTUMEPACK00002/ or by its content ID
UP0000-PPSA01234_00-SOUNDTRACK000003/ an add-on can also sit next to the game, named by its content ID
  • The game's folder name or its title ID goes before -UPDATE, -patch and -DLC, in any case. These folders are no longer listed as games or half-copied dumps.
  • The game's page shows DLC (n) with their names and Update vX applied once the game is unlocked with it. An update dumped after the unlock says unlock to apply: its eboot.bin and modules are converted again, and your saves and trophies stay.
  • The engine reads the update's files in place of the game's and mounts each add-on the game asks for.
  • Only content on your disk is reported to the game: nothing you did not dump is unlocked, and nothing contacts Sony.

Game Presets, per profile

  • Settings → Game Presets sets, once for every game, what the PS5 keeps under that name: difficulty, Performance Mode or Resolution Mode, invert the camera (vertical and horizontal, first-person and third-person), subtitles and the audio language. Each profile has its own.
  • Games that read the console's presets start with them; a game that keeps its own settings uses those once you change them in it, and games that do not ask ignore them.
  • Performance Mode is seen to work in games. Difficulty, invert camera, subtitles and audio language are experimental: their values follow the console's menus and have not been checked against a console.

Battery & Heat profiles (Mac)

  • Settings → Battery & Heat says what a MacBook on battery (or in Low Power Mode), or a Mac running hot, does to the game. Plugged in and cool, nothing changes.
  • The Battery Profile and the Heat Profile each set a frame rate cap (30, 40 or 45 FPS, or none), Lower Resolution (games with a resolution option start one step lower, next launch), Pause Frame Generation (for games started with frame generation on) and a Lighter Launcher (less Glass blur and animation). Both are on by default with a 40 FPS cap.
  • It changes live, mid-game: the frame cap and the frame generation pause apply at once, through a new engine control file. A cable that slips changes nothing (the power source counts after 10 s) and the heat profile ends 90 s after the Mac cools down.
  • When the Mac gets hot, a note shows over the game ("Your Mac is hot: AnyPS5 lowered the frame rate"). Undo from the PS quick menu (Undo Heat Profile or Undo Battery Profile) goes back to your settings until the Mac cools down or the power source changes.
  • The quick menu shows a battery line: the charge and about how long it lasts.
  • Engine: ANYPS5_FPS_CAP sets a frame cap at start, and ANYPS5_POWER_CONTROL names a file of fps_cap= and frame_gen= lines the engine reads every 500 ms (docs/dev/ENVIRONMENT.md).

Also in this release

  • Options/Start on Home opens the Options menu; △ stays the game's settings.
  • An offline profile without an account still signs in from Settings → AnyTogether as before; friends' private pictures are read again once the list is old.
  • Engine: add-on folder names are read as UTF-8, so a name outside the ANSI code page works on Windows. Add-on licences are reported through sceAppContent and sceNpEntitlementAccess, and sceUserServiceGetGamePresets answers with the presets (ANYPS5_ADDCONT_DIRS, ANYPS5_UPDATE_DIR, ANYPS5_GAME_PRESETS in docs/user/USAGE.md).
  • Guide: where to put update and DLC dumps, and Game Presets (docs/user/GUIDE.md, English and Turkish).

Phone app "AnyPS5 Remote" 1.19

  • Friends-only names and pictures of your friends in friends, party and profiles, with the handle beside.
  • Set and clear your own friends-only name and picture in the profile editor.

Windows and Linux: AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.10

  • Profiles (offline or online first start, Who's playing?, Switch Profile from PS long-press or Options/Start and right-click on Home, Go Online/Offline, blocked while a game runs, silent migration), friends-only names and pictures, DLC and updates from your dumps and Game Presets per profile, as above.
  • New engine: AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-ce334c86b.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-ce334c86b.tar.gz / .zip (built on Ubuntu 22.04, glibc 2.35). They read the update and add-on folders and answer with the Game Presets; the online, remote pad, AppContent and UserService tests pass on both. Settings → AnyPS5 Engine in AnyPS5 Desktop offers them.

Install

Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer): already on 0.2.8 or later, use Settings → About → Update to 0.2.24 (or Restart Now on the update notice). Or:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/utkuhalis/AnyPS5-ARM/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.23

Choose a tag to compare

@utkuhalis utkuhalis released this 26 Oct 13:33

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.23 is the controller and couch release, built from your Discord feedback: the launcher starts full screen, Settings work with a pad the way a console does, hints follow the input you use, the PS button opens a quick menu that pauses the game (even with a controller on player 1, thanks to a new engine press packet), the Create/Share button saves clips and screenshots, a new Shortcuts screen remaps the launcher, and any phone can play from a browser by scanning a QR code, no app needed. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.9 brings all of it to Windows and Linux, with a new Windows and Linux engine built from a296986. The phone app AnyPS5 Remote 1.18 comes along. Like every release, it is signed.

Full screen

  • The launcher starts full screen the first time, then as you left it.
  • F11 (or ⌃⌘F on the Mac) and Settings → Appearance → Full Screen switch it; Shortcuts can move it to another key or a pad button.

Settings with a controller

  • Move across Settings with the D-pad or the stick: left goes to the sections' column, up and down change the section, right or ✕ go back into the rows; L1/R1 change the section from anywhere.
  • Option rows (theme, window mode and the other ‹ › choices) no longer change just because you move over them: press ✕ to edit (an accent ring and its arrows show), ←/→ change the value, ✕ or ○ leave it. The end of a list still answers with its bump.
  • Keyboard and mouse work as before.

Hints that follow your input

  • The hints show the pad's buttons or the keys, whichever you used last, and switch live.
  • In pad mode the mouse pointer and the value arrows hide (the Back pill and the gallery's arrows too on Windows and Linux); a key or the mouse brings the keyboard's hints back.

PS button

  • Long-press PS in the launcher opens Quit AnyPS5 (Switch Profile is coming).
  • PS in a game opens a quick menu: Resume, Game Settings, Close Game. It pauses the game first by pressing Options in it, whoever is player 1: a controller, the keyboard or a phone. On Windows and Linux the menu says Paused or Still running over the game's name.
  • Long-press PS in a game asks "Close game?" at once. PS now acts when let go (held 500 ms it is the long press).
  • Settings → Behaviour → Pause Game When Opening the Menu (on by default) turns the pause off.
  • New engine press packet. The remote pad bridge takes a 24-byte press datagram (APRP) that holds buttons on player 1's pad for 50 to 2000 ms without taking a seat, whoever drives that pad. The launcher holds Options for 160 ms and sends the same press three times against loss; a copy with the last press's id is dropped. The game's hello says the engine takes presses (byte 9, bit 0). An older engine drops the datagram and the launcher falls back to the old way (the phone pad press while nobody is player 1 on the Mac, the Options key typed into the game's window on Windows and Linux).

Share / Create button: clips and screenshots

  • A replay buffer keeps the last 30 s, 1, 3 or 5 min of the game, picture and sound (the setting shows how much memory it takes; the longer ones use a lower bit rate).
  • A short press of Create (Share on a DualShock 4 or an Xbox pad) saves a clip beside the screenshots; a long press takes a screenshot (a press does too while the buffer is off).
  • On the Mac the buffer lives in memory, and ⌥F12 or Create on the phone also save a clip; macOS asks once for the screen recording permission.
  • On Windows and Linux it is Settings → Captures → Replay Buffer (off by default, about one CPU core) and needs ffmpeg (installed, or ffmpeg beside the launcher). Clips show in the game's gallery with a play badge and open in the system's player.

Shortcuts

  • Settings → Shortcuts puts Home, Quick Menu, Screenshot, Save Clip, Full Screen and the previous / next section on any key (with modifiers) and on any pad button or chord, pressed or held.
  • Conflicts are checked: a clash, or one of the launcher's own keys and buttons, is refused and said. Reset to Defaults brings them back.
  • On the Mac the in-game ones work as system-wide hot keys; on Windows and Linux the game's own buttons link to Game Settings → Controls.

Play from a browser

  • Scan a QR code and a phone with no app becomes a DualSense in its browser, as player 2 to 4. Mac: Settings → Advanced → Phones → Show QR code; Windows and Linux: Settings → Phones → Play from a browser.
  • The page has both sticks (they come to the thumb), an eight-way D-pad, ✕ ○ □ △ a thumb can roll across, L1 R1 L2 R2, Options, Create, PS and the touchpad, with the game's light bar, the DualSense's player lights and vibration where the browser has it (Android). English and Turkish, light and dark.
  • A browser goes through the same pairing code card, seats and pad path as the phone app.
  • LAN only and locked down: the QR code's link works once and for two minutes and turns into a cookie for that browser alone; the page is served on your computer's local network address only, refuses other sites and hosts, and slows down too many requests or wrong codes.
  • The server runs only while the QR code is shown and while browsers it let in are connected (two more minutes for a reload or a locked screen), or always with Keep browser play on. Turning Play from a browser off stops it.
  • It is plain HTTP on your network, so tilt, keeping the screen awake and vibration on iPhones need the app.

Credits

  • The README's Credits now name AnyPlay: stream P2P sockets over the bridge followed the approach of its engine bridge (anyplaynet/AnyPS5, GPL-2.0), and Try anyway, Update required, the confirmations and the browser pad follow ideas AnyPlay shipped first. The code is written independently.

Phone app "AnyPS5 Remote" 1.18

  • 1.18 is rebuilt for this release, with no new phone features of its own. Create on the phone saves a clip on the Mac, like Create on a controller.

Windows and Linux: AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.9

  • Full screen, Settings with a controller, live hints, the PS menus, Create clips and screenshots (with ffmpeg), Shortcuts and Play from a browser, as above.
  • New engine: AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-a29698606.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-a29698606.tar.gz / .zip (built on Ubuntu 22.04, glibc 2.35). They add the press packet to the remote pad bridge, so the quick menu pauses a game with a controller on player 1. Settings → AnyPS5 Engine in AnyPS5 Desktop offers them.

Install

Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer): already on 0.2.8 or later, use Settings → About → Update to 0.2.23 (or Restart Now on the update notice). Or:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/utkuhalis/AnyPS5-ARM/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

  • No app: scan the launcher's QR code (see Play from a browser).

Windows 10/11: run AnyPS5-Desktop-Setup-0.1.9-x64.exe (installs for your user, no admin), or unzip AnyPS5-Desktop-windows-x64.zip. SmartScreen may warn: More info → Run anyway. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.3 or later offers this update by itself.

Linux: AnyPS5-Desktop-0.1.9-x86_64.AppImage (chmod +x, run), sudo apt install ./anyps5-desktop_0.1.9_amd64.deb, or the .tar.gz. The launcher needs Ubuntu 22.04 or newer.

On Windows and Linux, press Download the AnyPS5 engine on first start. For clips, install ffmpeg (Windows: winget install ffmpeg or put ffmpeg.exe beside the launcher; Linux: sudo apt install ffmpeg).

Engine files: AnyPS5-toolkit-macos-0.2.23-arm.zip is this release's engine for the Mac launcher's engine picker. AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-a29698606.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-a29698606.tar.gz / .zip are the Windows and Linux ones for AnyPS5 Desktop's. You don't need to download them yourself.

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.22

Choose a tag to compare

@utkuhalis utkuhalis released this 26 Oct 10:42

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.22 brings Play Together, Human Fall Flat online that actually works (Host Public and Join), stream P2P sockets between players, the "Too many open files" fix, and a phone app 1.17 that fits small screens and catches up with the launchers. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.8 brings online play and Play Together to Windows and Linux, with a new Windows and Linux engine built from 0130d3b. Like every release, it is signed.

Online play

Online play is still experimental (Settings → AnyTogether → Online play (experimental), off by default). Nothing ever goes to Sony.

  • Human Fall Flat: Host Public and Join work. Tested on the Mac with a real public lobby: the host loads its level, the room shows in the public list, and Join gets into the host's game and plays.
    • Host Public no longer crashes. The game's own web API library reads a reply only when it gets the status the platform answers with: 201 for every request that makes something (create a session, join as player or spectator, invitations). The launcher answered 200, so the game read an empty reply and crashed. Those requests now answer 201 in the platform's shape, with Content-Type and Content-Length on every reply.
    • Join no longer crashes. A join into a Player Session made on the host's machine is now taken (it used to get a 404, which crashed the game the same way).
    • The session fetch after a join is answered. The game asks for the session it joined by a header, not by its path. The launcher now answers from that header, so Join gets all the way into the game.
  • "Too many open files" fixed. After about 25 minutes Human Fall Flat could not join a room ("Connection Failed, Unexpected Error"): on macOS each block of the game's direct memory held a file descriptor, and they used up every number a guest socket can get. Those descriptors now live above the guest's socket numbers, so the game always gets its sockets.
  • Stream P2P sockets (TCP between players) over the bridge. Games that open stream P2P sockets play online now. The engine carries each connection over the bridge, and the launchers carry it between players on a second, reliable and ordered data channel next to the game's packets. Mac, Windows and Linux use the same bytes, so a Mac and a PC stream to each other. A broken stream reads as a reset, never as a short message that looks complete. A stream that was closed stays closed when a game or player leaves, and a busy stream never crowds out the game's other packets.
  • Online play on Windows and Linux. The engine's online bridge and P2P relay now work over Winsock too, and AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.8 has online play and Play Together. Windows, Linux and Mac launchers play together.
  • The phone controller in Windows games. The remote pad now works over Winsock, so the phone works as a controller in games on Windows.

Play Together

  • Play Together in the party. The host starts the game picked on Home for the whole party, with online play on for that game only (your setting stays as you left it). The others hear " started — Join". Join first checks that you have the same game, version and engine, or offers Unlock and Play / Update and Play, or says who should update. Then it starts the game in the host's session, so the games find each other on the virtual LAN. The party panel shows who plays, each player's connection and ping, Leave or End, and the host's join code. The session ends when the host's game exits. Friends see "Playing together (2/8)".
  • Try Anyway on a game version mismatch. When only the game version keeps you out (never the engine), Join offers Try Anyway, and the party sees who tried anyway.
  • Asks before you leave or remove. Leaving the party, removing someone from it, ending or leaving Play Together, taking a viewer out, stopping share play and closing a post all ask first, right where you are. Cancel is focused and Back answers Cancel. On the phone and in AnyPS5 Desktop, removing a friend asks first too.
  • Update Required. When AnyTogether retires your version, the launcher says so once and offers its own update (or the downloads page). The phone opens the downloads page.

Phone app "AnyPS5 Remote" 1.17

  • Small phones fit. Every AnyTogether tab and the other screens were checked in English and Turkish on an iPhone SE held sideways, a Pro Max and an iPad, with larger text too, and every overflow was fixed:
    • On a small phone, Messages shows the list or the open conversation (with a back arrow).
    • Party voice and invites go under the members.
    • Friend buttons go under the name.
    • The launcher's tiles and buttons shrink, so Play is never cut off.
    • Leaderboards, notifications and labels shrink or shorten instead of overflowing.
  • Join codes. Everyone in the party sees the party's join code, with when it ends, and can copy it or its link. The leader makes one, makes a new one or stops it. Join with a code on the party tab takes a typed or pasted code or link, shows what it opens (whose party or share play, the game, how full) and has Ask to join.
  • The party's Discord link. Open in Discord for everyone; the leader sets or removes it.
  • Deafen in party voice. Deafened, you hear nobody and your microphone is off; the others see a crossed-out headset.
  • Vibration test. About → Test plays the large motor, the small one and a trigger's pulses.
  • Loading and errors. Friends and Messages show a spinner while they load, and if they don't load, they say why and offer Try Again.
  • Accessibility. The layout editor's size buttons and fade slider speak to screen readers.
  • Turkish. Turkish capitals keep the dot on İ (ARKADAŞLIK İSTEKLERİ, PLATİN).

Windows and Linux: AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.8

  • Online play (experimental), as on the Mac: you appear signed in as your AnyTogether handle with your AnyTogether friends, Player Sessions are kept by the launcher, and game packets ride WebRTC to the other players. It has an online log for each game (Open online log), and crash reports carry its last lines.
  • Play Together, Try Anyway, asks first and Update Required, as above.
  • Human Fall Flat's Host Public and Join fixes, and stream P2P between players.
  • When a release keeps an older engine beside a newer one, the newest engine is offered.
  • New engine: AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-0130d3b81.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-0130d3b81.tar.gz / .zip (built on Ubuntu 22.04, glibc 2.35). They carry the online bridge over Winsock, stream P2P, the Player Sessions fixes and the phone pad over Winsock. Settings → AnyPS5 Engine in AnyPS5 Desktop offers them.

Install

Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer): already on 0.2.8 or later, use Settings → About → Update to 0.2.22 (or Restart Now on the update notice). Or:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/utkuhalis/AnyPS5-ARM/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

Windows 10/11: run AnyPS5-Desktop-Setup-0.1.8-x64.exe (installs for your user, no admin), or unzip AnyPS5-Desktop-windows-x64.zip. SmartScreen may warn: More info → Run anyway. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.3 or later offers this update by itself.

Linux: AnyPS5-Desktop-0.1.8-x86_64.AppImage (chmod +x, run), sudo apt install ./anyps5-desktop_0.1.8_amd64.deb, or the .tar.gz. The launcher needs Ubuntu 22.04 or newer.

On Windows and Linux, press Download the AnyPS5 engine on first start.

Engine files: AnyPS5-toolkit-macos-0.2.22-arm.zip is this release's engine for the Mac launcher's engine picker. AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-0130d3b81.zip and AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-0130d3b81.tar.gz / .zip are the Windows and Linux ones for AnyPS5 Desktop's. You don't need to download them yourself.

Since v0.2.22-arm-nightly.20261026.3:

  • Online play: getPlayerSessions by its session IDs header, so Join gets into the game
  • docs: stream P2P resets, the bridge queue share and closed streams when a game or player goes
  • Launcher: a stream closed before its game or player went stays closed, not reset
  • Online play: a broken stream resets the game's socket, and the bridge never waits on a connect
  • docs: stream P2P over online play (bridge frames, engine relay, the stream channel between launchers)
  • Launcher: the game's streams between players over a reliable data channel
  • Online play: stream P2P sockets carried over the bridge
  • Remote: Update required when AnyTogether retires this version, with the downloads page
  • Remote: removing a friend, leaving the party, removing someone from it and closing a post ask first
  • Launcher: Try Anyway in Play Together, Update Required when AnyTogether retires this version, and leaving or removing someone asks first
  • Launcher core: Try anyway on a game version refusal, who tried anyway in the party, and AnyTogether's client_too_old handed to the launcher

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.21

Choose a tag to compare

@utkuhalis utkuhalis released this 26 Oct 01:04

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.21 brings controller management with a troubleshooter (and the DualShock 3 over USB), Add to Steam, a free space check before every unlock, new games prepared in the background, faster unlocks, and replies, reactions, edits and more in Messages. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.7 for Windows and Linux is here too, with our Windows tester's fixes. Like every release now, it is signed.

What's new

  • Settings → Controllers: every pad macOS knows (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox, Switch Pro, MFi) over USB or Bluetooth, and now the DualShock 3 over USB with the launcher's own reader (macOS does not support it; plug it in and press PS). Pads come and go at any time, several at once; the one used last is Player 1. The screen lists them with USB or Bluetooth and battery, and has Test Buttons and Sticks (a live drawing of the pad), Test Vibration, Light Bar colour, Confirm Button (○ confirms, as on Japanese consoles) and Stick Dead Zone (in the launcher and in games that set none of their own). A pad nearly out of battery shows in the top bar.
    • The troubleshooter says what it sees: no controller (cable and pairing tips for each family), a controller macOS lists without a layout, a low battery, Steam running (its controller support can turn the pad into a mouse), and that the DualShock 3 works over USB only.
    • Connects and disconnects are logged, and crash reports now list the controllers.
  • Add to Steam: Settings → Steam → Add to Steam puts AnyPS5 in your Steam library as a non-Steam game with artwork in the Cosmic look (cover, wide capsule, hero, logo, icon). Add My Games Too gives every unlocked game its own entry with its own art that starts straight into the game (--steam --play <title ID>); the launcher quits when the game ends so Steam sees it end. Open Full Screen from Steam adds --fullscreen. With Steam open it offers Quit Steam and Add; it keeps a backup and Remove from Steam takes out only AnyPS5's entries.
  • Free space check before unlock: Unlock and Update and Play check the games folder's drive first. When it is short nothing starts, and a panel says how much is needed and free, with the ways out (another games folder, Storage settings, try again).
  • New games prepared in the background: Settings → Game Library → Prepare New Games Automatically (on by default). A new, complete game found in the games folder is unlocked in the background, one at a time, at background priority. It waits for your own unlocks and for a game you play, pauses where it is when one starts, and never runs on a battery below 30 % or a drive without the room. The New game notice says Preparing…, then Ready to play; Play on a game being prepared finishes it at full speed and starts it.
  • Faster unlocks: the relinker's output is kept (unlocking again with the same engine, executable and modules skips unwrap and relink), the game's files are placed by up to eight workers at once, and a downloaded engine is checked in full only when its files change.
  • Messages: pick a message (↑ from the field, or right-click) for its menu: seven reactions, Reply (the answer quotes it), and on your own Edit (within 15 minutes) and Unsend (after a confirm). Reactions show as chips under the bubble. Your newest message says Sent, Delivered or Read (Seen by in a group). △ on a conversation pins it to the top or mutes it. Privacy settings get Send read receipts.
  • PS and the controller during play: PS switches between the game and the launcher with a short debounce, so one press is one switch. A game reads the controller only while its own window is in front, so moving through the launcher over a running game no longer also plays the game.
  • No art drift behind games: the game art, Glass's frosted art and a custom picture stop moving while a game runs or the launcher is behind other windows, so the launcher no longer keeps drawing behind your game.
  • Credits: the README now credits AnyPlay's bridge spec as the base of online play's protocol.
  • Phone controller 1.16.0: in Messages, a long press on a message (or the button beside it) gives the seven reactions, Reply, and on your own Edit and Unsend; reaction chips, reply quotes, Sent / Delivered / Read and Seen by; a long press on a conversation pins or mutes it; Send read receipts in the profile's privacy settings.
  • Windows and Linux: AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.7 is included below: controller management with SDL2 and a troubleshooter, Add to Steam (the Steam Deck too), the free space check and new games prepared in the background, the same Messages features, and our Windows tester's fixes: the controller no longer reaches the launcher during play, lists don't follow the mouse, the launcher is much faster on laptops, PS toggles both ways, and the game ignores the pad while the launcher is in front. It also brings Glass, games that show up by themselves, controller vibration and quiet updates from the 0.1.6 pre-release. AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-26d785b.zip is our own Windows engine build, which lets the phone work as a controller in games on Windows; AnyPS5 Desktop offers it in its engine picker.
  • Windows and Linux engine updated to 1a254b1 (online play bridge, Human Fall Flat socket fixes, push contexts, the log repeat filter, [exit]/[fatal] lines and the other engine fixes on main): AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-1a254b1fe.zip and, new, AnyPS5-toolkit-linux-1a254b1fe.tar.gz / .zip (built on Ubuntu 22.04, glibc 2.35). AnyPS5 Desktop's engine picker offers them; the 26d785b archive stays for launchers that already have it.

Install

Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer): already on 0.2.8 or later, use Settings → About → Update to 0.2.21 (or Restart Now on the update notice). Or:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/utkuhalis/AnyPS5-ARM/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh

It puts AnyPS5.app in Applications and installs Rosetta 2 if it is missing. With AnyPS5-macOS.zip instead: unzip and open the app; the first time, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Games unlocked with an earlier version get the engine fixes when you choose Update and Play on them (your saves and trophies stay).

Windows 10/11: run AnyPS5-Desktop-Setup-0.1.7-x64.exe (installs for your user, no admin), or unzip AnyPS5-Desktop-windows-x64.zip. SmartScreen may warn: More info → Run anyway. AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.3 or later offers this update by itself.

Linux: AnyPS5-Desktop-0.1.7-x86_64.AppImage (chmod +x, run), sudo apt install ./anyps5-desktop_0.1.7_amd64.deb, or the .tar.gz. The launcher needs Ubuntu 22.04 or newer; games through AnyPS5's current Linux engine need Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39 or newer.

On Windows and Linux, press Download the AnyPS5 engine on first start.

Engine files: AnyPS5-toolkit-macos-0.2.21-arm.zip is this release's engine for the Mac launcher's engine picker, and AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-26d785b.zip the Windows one for AnyPS5 Desktop's. You don't need to download them yourself.

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.20

Choose a tag to compare

@utkuhalis utkuhalis released this 25 Oct 23:59

AnyPS5-ARM 0.2.20 takes Online play (still experimental) a big step further with Human Fall Flat, and brings the Glass theme with a see-through window, games that show up by themselves, controller vibration and quiet updates. Like every release now, it is signed.

What's new

  • Online play: Human Fall Flat gets further (experimental, off by default). Turn it on in Settings → AnyTogether → Online play (experimental). Human Fall Flat (PPSA02429) is the first game tested with it:
    • The game's sockets work: libSceNet now accepts sockets made with socket() in epoll, getsockopt and socket info. Before, the game's network layer failed every poll and printed two errors hundreds of thousands of times.
    • Join: the public lobby list shows real lobbies and Join gets you into one (the game's own lobby service, Photon, over the Mac's network).
    • Host: the game's push contexts are made locally and its Player Sessions are answered by the launcher, so Host should no longer stop at "Failed to Start a Server". The block list and communication restriction checks are answered too (nobody is blocked or restricted). Nothing goes to Sony.
    • LAN games online: a game's LAN broadcasts (and multicast) now travel to the other players, so games that find each other on the local network can find each other online. Oversized datagrams are handled: big packets get through instead of vanishing, and one too large for the network is refused cleanly and counted.
    • Still experimental: no game is known to play a whole online session yet. If you try, send ~/Library/Logs/AnyPS5/Online/<TitleID>.jsonl and the game's log with your report.
  • Game log: a line a game repeats more than 50 times in 10 seconds is dropped after one notice (one game filled 53 MB of log), and the last lines now say how the game ended: the game quit, the window was closed, or a crash with where it happened.
  • Glass, a new theme with a see-through window: Settings → Appearance → Theme → Glass. The launcher's window lets your desktop show through, blurred under a light tint so the wallpaper glows; text sits on soft dark plates, so it reads over any wallpaper. Surfaces are frosted ice (Liquid Glass on macOS 26) and the focused one is a bright ice chip, with a new Ice accent. Glass transparency sets how much shows through (0 % is solid) and Show Game Art Behind lays the selected game's picture over it; Reduce Transparency keeps everything solid. In full screen the desktop picture is drawn blurred behind it.
  • New games show up by themselves: a game copied into the games folder, in a subfolder too, appears as soon as its copy is complete, with New game: and its icon (or 3 new games) and the select sound, and is selected on the home screen. The library is also looked at again when the launcher comes to the front and when a drive is plugged in or out.
  • Controller vibration: soft pulses through the controller for select, back, errors, trophies, calls and the end of a row (Settings → Behaviour → Controller Vibration, on by default), only while the launcher is in front; they stop the moment a game comes in front.
  • Input feel: one repeat pace for the controller and the arrow keys, a stick that no longer jitters at rest, a quiet knock when a direction has nowhere to go, and a soft tick when the mouse arrives on a tile, row or button.
  • Update notice: a new version found while the launcher is open downloads quietly in the background (signature checked as before), then a notice beside the top bar offers Restart Now or Later (it goes in when you quit). Restart Now with a game running waits for the game.
  • Fixes: macOS no longer naps the launcher (App Nap) while Share play, Remote Play or a broadcast sends the game, so their timing stays steady; an earned hidden trophy always shows its name.
  • Phone controller 1.15.0: unchanged since 0.2.19; the APK and IPA are here again so every platform is on one page.
  • Windows and Linux: AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.5, the current stable version, is included below (trophy levels, showcases, Compare trophies, Appear offline, crash reports, controllers in the launcher, the trophy card over the game, full screen, mouse support, the engine picker with the AnyPS5-ARM engine and signed launcher updates). AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.7, with controller management, Steam shortcuts and our Windows tester's fixes, follows shortly. AnyPS5-toolkit-windows-26d785b.zip is our own Windows engine build, which lets the phone work as a controller in games on Windows; AnyPS5 Desktop offers it in its engine picker.

Install

Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer): already on 0.2.8 or later, use Settings → About → Update to 0.2.20. Or:
