ExtraDock 4.4.6

Everything from the 4.4.5 beta: much smoother window previews, safer license storage, far less disk writing and a long list of fixes. Build 4460.

New

  • Virtual Trash size: The Virtual Trash now shows how much space it uses, warns you when it grows above 2 GB, and offers Empty Items Older Than 30 Days so you can clean up without losing recent files.

Improved

  • Fewer Keychain password prompts — your license is now stored securely without asking for your Mac password. Widget API keys and your account sign-in moved too, and ExtraDock 5 can import your ExtraDock 4 license without asking.
  • Smoother window previews: Hovering over dock icons no longer stutters. Previews appear instantly and move smoothly from one icon to the next.
  • Faster running dots and badges: Running-app dots and badges update faster, and hovering across many icons stays light.
  • Much less disk writing: ExtraDock only saves when something actually changed and cleans up its own leftover files.
  • More responsive dock: The Trash widget and actions like Quit and Get Info now work in the background, so an app that isn't responding can no longer freeze the dock.
  • Faster Export Logs: Settings → Diagnostics → Export Logs finishes in seconds, includes crash reports and the previous session, and can no longer lock up the app.
  • Up-to-date updater: Sparkle 2.10 with the latest security fixes.

Fixed

  • Reopen an app's main window: Clicking an app in the dock brings back its closed main window, even while another of its windows is still open (like Outlook), just like the macOS Dock.
  • Click to cycle windows: The first click on the frontmost app's icon now switches to its next window.
  • Right-click window list: The right-click menu lists the app's open windows again and stays up to date.
  • Displays above the built-in screen: Docks on a display arranged above your built-in display now stay in place.
  • Blank previews: Windows that can't be captured show a placeholder instead of an empty card.
  • TamaDocky: Your pet's stats go down at the intended rate and pause while ExtraDock is closed, the Mac sleeps or the screen is locked.
  • Stability: Fixed a crash when apps launch or quit quickly, and a rare crash around the AI assistant's permission window.
