First public build of Clippy for macOS — a floating desktop assistant that can see your screen and act on it.

Install: download Clippy-macOS-universal.dmg below (attached once the build finishes, ~3 min), open it, and drag Clippy to Applications. Universal — Apple Silicon and Intel.

This build is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS will warn on first open: right-click the app and choose Open, then confirm.

On first launch Clippy asks for Accessibility and Screen Recording. Both are needed for it to read the screen and act on it; without them it still answers in words.

In this release

  • Screen-aware automation: screenshot plus accessibility scan on every request, scrolling to find off-screen controls, one-step-at-a-time re-planning, and a safety layer that stops before anything that sends, buys, deletes, or enters a password.
  • Chat through an existing Claude Code or Codex login, or your own OpenAI/Anthropic key.
  • Long-term memory: tell it something about yourself once and it carries across chats. Everything it stores is listed and deletable in Settings.
  • Dictation, spoken replies, file attachments, custom prompts, and a configurable balloon menu.
