@Arcnaboo Arcnaboo released this 29 May 18:37

Thumbkeeper — Alpha v0.4

Release date: May 29, 2026
Status: Early alpha — feedback welcome

What’s new

In-game settings menu

  • Hamburger menu (top-left) opens a pause overlay without leaving your run.
  • Audio on/off — saved between sessions.
  • Resume to keep playing, or Quit to menu when you’re done.
  • Gameplay pauses while the menu is open.
  • Back / Escape opens the menu during a run, or closes it if it’s already open.

AI Assist (optional cheat-style help)

  • Off by default — enable in settings when you want it.
  • Does not auto-jump for you. When assist is ready, your next jump (hold + release as usual) is smoothly redirected to the next platform above you.
  • Your aim and charge are ignored for that one jump; movement uses a natural arc so it feels intentional, not like a glitch.

Thumbkeeper — Alpha v0.3

Release Date: May 29, 2026
Status: Early Alpha (Feedback Welcome)

What's New

⚙️ In-Game Settings Menu

A new hamburger menu has been added to the top-left corner of the screen.

  • Open the settings menu without ending your current run.
  • Resume gameplay instantly after making changes.
  • Quit back to the main menu at any time.
  • Audio can now be toggled directly from the settings menu.
  • Audio preferences are automatically saved between sessions.
  • Press Back (Android) or Escape (Desktop) to:
    • Open the menu during gameplay.
    • Close the menu if it is already open.

While the settings menu is open, gameplay is fully paused:

  • Death line freezes
  • Scoring freezes
  • Physics and gameplay progression freeze

🤖 AI Assist (Optional Feature)

A new AI Assist setting is now available.

Default: OFF

When enabled:

  • Every 60 seconds, the game automatically performs a powerful jump.
  • The assist targets the nearest platform above the player.
  • Uses the same movement and jump rules as normal gameplay.
  • An on-screen countdown displays the time remaining until the next assist jump.
  • Your preference is saved between sessions.

Current Limitations

AI Assist can only activate when a normal jump would be allowed:

  • Grounded
  • During coyote time
  • While attached to a wall

If the player is mid-air when the timer expires, the assist waits until the next available activation window.

AI Assist currently targets the nearest valid platform above the player and may not always choose the most optimal route on complex tower layouts.

🎨 UI Cleanup

To simplify the HUD:

  • Removed the separate top-right audio button.
  • Audio controls now live exclusively inside the Settings menu.

Controls

Action | Input -- | -- Charge & Aim | Hold + Drag Jump | Release Open Settings | Hamburger Menu (Top-Left) Open/Close Settings | Back (Android) / Esc (Desktop) Mute Audio (Desktop) | M

Known Limitations

  • AI Assist only activates when a legal jump is possible.
  • Assist targeting prioritizes proximity, not route quality.
  • Some tower layouts may produce suboptimal assist jumps.
