Arrow Safari FAE Demo

pcbguitar edited this page Nov 18, 2019 · 2 revisions

In order to show some of the capabilities of Safari a limited number of working demonstration kits have been put together. This kit is available to Arrow's Field Applications Engineers (FAEs) to bring to customers.

The Safari Demo kit shows an industrial monitoring solution consisting of a 24VDC 3-phase electric motor with 3 sensors attached, monitoring motor vibration, temperature, and the air pressure generated by an attached fan blade.

The sensors are connected to the Safari board which performs signal processing and sends the digitized output across a SPI interface to the Meerkat 96Board. The Meerkat takes this and converts to UART then passes this on to a separate UART-to-USB bridge IC. The signal is then sent out over a USB cable to the user's PC.

Results are viewed graphically on the User's PC using a custom software GUI written in Python.

To borrow one of these demo kits contact Arrow's Testdrive department.

Introduction

The Safari Demonstration Kit features Arrow Electronics’ Safari 96Boards sensor interface mezzanine card configured to monitor the vibration, temperature and pressure produced by an electric motor. Used in conjunction with Novtech’s ‘Meerkat’ 96Board featuring an i.MX7 MCU, this demo allows one to view the outputs from the 3 sensors graphically on the User’s PC.

This User Guide contains instructions on how to set up and install software, connect the hardware and run the demonstration.
