Configuring Tedious Missions

Arsonide edited this page Jan 5, 2018 · 2 revisions

Vox Lotus allows you to create lists of mission types that you consider to be "tedious", and tag each and every reward with that list. This determines how the program behaves when that reward is "dotted" in the program. Remember, if the reward is checked, the user will always receive a notification, and if it's unchecked, they will never receive a notification for that reward. Tedious lists only affect rewards that are "dotted".

First of all, all configuration happens in "config.json" which should be in the directory that Vox Lotus is in. If this file is not present, then either redownload the program, or run it which will generate a blank configuration file.

Creating a List

The section of this file that you are interested in is the "TediousMissions" list. Here is how that list looks by default:

  "TediousMissions":
  {
    "Default":
    [
      "Defense",
      "Survival",
      "Excavation",
      "Interception",
      "Evacuation",
      "Dark Sector"
    ],
    "Endo":
    [
      "Hive",
      "Assault",
      "Mobile Defense",
      "Hijack",
      "Spy",
      "Defense",
      "Survival",
      "Excavation",
      "Interception",
      "Evacuation",
      "Dark Sector",
      "Invasion",
      "Rathuum",
      "Conclave"
    ],
    "Credits":
    [
      "Extermination",
      "Sabotage",
      "Assassination",
      "Hive",
      "Assault",
      "Mobile Defense",
      "Hijack",
      "Spy",
      "Defense",
      "Survival",
      "Excavation",
      "Interception",
      "Evacuation",
      "Dark Sector",
      "Invasion",
      "Rathuum",
      "Conclave"
    ]
  },

Each list has a name, and a list of missions that would be ignored on dotted rewards that are tagged with that name. Here is a list of all the missions currently in the game:

  • Extermination
  • Sabotage
  • Assassination
  • Hive
  • Assault
  • Mobile Defense
  • Hijack
  • Spy
  • Defense
  • Survival
  • Excavation
  • Interception
  • Evacuation
  • Dark Sector
  • Invasion
  • Rathuum
  • Conclave
  • Rescue
  • Capture

You'll notice that this list is almost verbatim the credits list, except for rescue and capture. That's because the program considers most things tedious for credits by default, since credit alerts are not typically worth the player's time.

Another thing of note is that "Invasion" is not actually a game type that is passed from the server metadata, but it is something that the program uses internally to refer to invasions, as their objectives rotate and change, which can cause them to include things that otherwise might be considered tedious.

Add your list in here, and give it a unique name. Now we'll get to how to apply your list to items.

Tagging Items

Every entry has a hidden setting called "TediousTag". Simply set that to the name of your new list, and those missions will be considered tedious if you dot the item in the program. Here is an example from my personal config file. I think Void Traces are particularly tedious, because you get 20 Void Traces pretty commonly in fissure missions. So I have tagged them with a custom "Traces" list:

    {
      "EntryType": "Resource",
      "EntryName": "Void Traces",
      "EntryInterest": 2,
      "TediousTag": "Traces"
    },

It's easy as that. Also note that if you'd like to tag credits, endo, or blanket tag all undefined items with no configured entries, there are three settings up in the top in the settings section: "CreditsTediousTag", "EndoTediousTag", and "UndefinedTediousTag" respectively.
