Variable Assignment

A statement in a computer program to set value to a variable. Most often the Mnemonic for the command, or Assignment Operator is the equal sign (=).

E.g.
int x = 42
This statement takes the variable called x and puts the value of 42 in it.

or
i = i + 1
This takes the value of i and increments it by 1
