Whittle 0.21.1
What's new
- Long answers stream smoothly. While Whittle writes a long answer, the rest of the app stays responsive: the text arrives in small batches, and only the last few lines are laid out again as it grows. Answers look exactly as before.
Install
Download Whittle-0.21.1.apk on a 64-bit ARM Android 8+ phone. It installs over earlier versions.
Whittle 0.21.0
What's new
- Tasks keep going when you switch chats. Open another chat or start a new one, and the task you left keeps working. A spinner in the chat list shows which chats are still busy. Open one to watch it live, or come back later to its answer. The ongoing notification follows whichever chat is working, and Stop there stops them all.
- Times in plain words. Alarm, reminder and calendar cards now say "tomorrow at 10:00 AM" instead of "2026-10-25T10:00", and follow your phone's 12- or 24-hour clock.
Install
Download Whittle-0.21.0.apk on a 64-bit ARM Android 8+ phone. It installs over earlier versions.
Whittle 0.20.0
What's new
- Whittle builds real Android apps. Ask for a mobile app ("make me a counter app") and Whittle writes it in Kotlin, then builds it in its Linux on your phone with the network off. It signs each app with that app's own key, kept on your phone. Websites are still built as before.
- The first app needs a one-time setup: about 400 MB of build tools, after you allow it.
- A card for each app lets you install, update, open and remove it, and says in plain words what the app can access. Anything powerful, like reading notifications or drawing over other apps, gets an extra warning, and Whittle asks once more before Android's own prompt.
- Nothing installs unless you tap Install, and Whittle checks the app hasn't changed since it was built. If you've left Whittle when Android asks to confirm, the prompt waits for you in a notification.
- If an app crashes, its card shows what happened, with Ask to fix.
- Ask to fix is safer. On app, server and preview cards, the error output now goes to Whittle as information to look at, not as your instructions.
- Linux runtime update. Whittle's Linux uses a newer version of the program it runs under, which fixes a crash some phones saw when unpacking files.

Whittle 0.19.0
What's new
-
Whittle does things on your phone. Ask it to:
- set an alarm or a timer in your clock app
- remind you of something at a time
- add an event to your calendar
- open a place or directions in Maps
- open an app or a web page
- share text or a file
- get a call ready in your phone app
Each step shows in the chat, and Whittle asks before changing anything on your phone. Calls and messages always wait for you to tap call or send.
-
Reminders from Whittle. Whittle's own notifications at the time you asked. They're kept on your phone and survive a restart. Ask "what are my reminders?" or "cancel that reminder" any time.
-
On this phone. A new section in Settings with a switch for each thing Whittle can use: contacts, your calendar, adding to it, alarms and timers, and reminders. Switch one on and Android asks for what it needs; switch it off and Whittle stops using it.
-
Choose how Claude Code signs in. Pick your Claude plan, an Anthropic Console account, or your own Anthropic API key. The key goes in the same paste field as your other keys and stays encrypted on your phone.
-
A tidier message box. A long message now grows the box upward, and the buttons stay on the bottom line.
Install
Download Whittle-0.19.0.apk on a 64-bit ARM Android 8+ phone. It installs over earlier versions.
Whittle 0.18.0
What's new
- Your connections work with Claude Code. Services you've connected in Whittle, like Notion or DeepWiki, are now available to Claude Code tasks too. Each time Claude Code uses one, an approval card names the step first. Tools you switched off for a connection stay off. Your sign-ins for those services never land in your workspace files.
- Automations with Claude Code. An automation set to a Claude Code model now runs with Claude Code. What you let it do without asking runs on its own. Anything else waits for your approval, and a notification asks you for it, the same as Whittle's own automations.
- Claude Code's edits in Changes. Files Claude Code writes or edits show in Files → Changes with what changed, and their steps open them, just like Whittle's own edits.
- Keep Claude Code current. Change model now shows the installed Claude Code version and has an Update row that fetches the latest from Anthropic. Whittle also checks for an update quietly at launch, at most once a day.
Install
Download Whittle-0.18.0.apk on a 64-bit ARM Android 8+ phone. It installs over earlier versions.
Whittle 0.17.0
What's new
- Use your Claude plan with Claude Code. Bring a model now offers Claude Code next to OpenAI and OpenRouter. Whittle installs Claude Code from Anthropic into your Linux, and you sign in on Claude Code's own screen with your Claude account; Whittle never sees your sign-in. Your tasks then run with Claude Code, right in Whittle's chat: its steps show as usual, its permission questions come up as approval cards, and follow-ups carry on the same conversation. Tasks count toward your Claude plan's limits, under Anthropic's terms.
- Pick Opus, Sonnet or Haiku, see which account and plan you're signed in with, sign out or remove Claude Code, all from Change model.
- Plan limits, in plain words. If your Claude plan's limit is reached, the chat says which limit and when it reopens.
- Bring a model. OpenAI, OpenRouter and Claude Code are one list now, with the one in use ticked. Switching back to a provider whose key is still saved lists its models without asking for the key again.
- Simpler key field. Paste your API key with one tap.

Whittle 0.16.1
What's new
- A W in the status bar and for themed icons. When Android tints icons one colour, the beaver lost its face and looked like a blob. The status bar, notifications and themed home-screen icon now show Whittle's W instead. The full-colour app icon is still the beaver.

What's new
- More OpenAI models. The model picker now lists every current OpenAI chat model that works with Whittle: GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, GPT-6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra and Luna, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4 and 5.4 mini, GPT-5.2, GPT-5, GPT-5 mini and nano, and o3. Image, voice and other non-chat models, pro models and deprecated ones stay out.
- Whittle reads PDFs. Linux now comes with PDF tools, so Whittle can read the PDFs you attach or make. If you set up Linux before this update, they're added the next time you open Whittle.

Whittle 0.15.0
What's new
- Attach photos and files. Tap + in the composer to add photos, take one with the camera, or pick any file, up to 5 at a time and 20 MB each. They're saved in your workspace's
uploadsfolder (inside the project in a project chat), so Whittle can open them with its tools. No permissions needed. - See what you're sending. Photos show as thumbnails above the composer and files as chips. Tap any of them, before or after sending, to open it: photos full screen with zoom, swipe, Share and Show in files; PDFs as pages; text files as text; anything else with Share.
- Models that can see, see your photos. A model that reads images gets each photo, the right way up. If yours can't, a note in the chat says so, with Change model.
- Add to a running task. Attach a photo while Whittle is working and it's added to the task.
- Share to Whittle. Whittle is in Android's Share menu: share a photo or file from any app and it opens a new chat with it attached.
- PDFs in Files. The file browser now shows PDFs as their pages.

Whittle 0.14.0
What's new
- Web reading on your phone, no paid search. Whittle no longer uses OpenAI's hosted web search, which costs per search. It opens pages itself and reads them as clean text, without menus, ads or markup, and finds what it needs in long pages without asking you. To let it search the web, connect a search service such as Exa in Settings › Connections.
- Supabase lives in the connections library. Settings lists the connections you use; Supabase waits under Websites and apps until you connect it.
- Project chats show their changes. Opening files from a chat with a project now shows what that chat changed.
- The model picker opens on your provider. After switching to OpenRouter, Change model shows OpenRouter's models, not OpenAI's.
- Polish. New automation and Add are full-width buttons at the bottom, and Projects in the sidebar uses the same folder icon as the chat.
