Recall 1.2
Hey everyone! Thank you all again for your continued excitement and support for this project, the positivity coming from you all has been nothing short of amazing! This is a smaller release aimed towards fixing some compatibility issues, enhancing controller support for Xbox, and monitor resolution checks. There will be a lot more to come over the horizon and thank you to everyone so far who has provided the feedback/recommendations that went into making this release. Here are v1.2's patch notes.
What's new
- Needs macOS 26.5. Overwatch only runs on macOS Tahoe 26.5 or later, so Recall now does too. Older versions of macOS, Sequoia included, have a Rosetta bug that stops the game before its window opens, and Apple fixed it in 26.5.
- Scaled monitor check. Settings now tells you when macOS is resizing your monitor, and which setting fixes it.
- Xbox controllers. Xbox controllers now work in Overwatch, alongside PlayStation ones.
- Updating from 1.0? If Recall stays on "Installing the update" for more than a minute, press Option-Command-Esc, choose Recall and click Force Quit. 1.2 is already installed and opens on its own.
Get started
- Download
Recall-1.2.0.dmgbelow and open it. - Drag Recall to Applications, then open it.
- Follow setup, sign in to Battle.net, install Overwatch and press Play.
Before your first match, play Workshop code 929PJ from Custom Games and let it run for 5 to 10 minutes. Your Mac gets Overwatch's graphics ready ahead of time, so your matches don't stutter while it catches up. Do the same any time your matches start to stutter.
Already on Recall? It updates itself when you open it.
You need Apple Silicon (M1 or newer), macOS Tahoe 26.5 or later, Rosetta and 85–95 GB of free space. 16 GB of memory is recommended. Recall is notarized by Apple.
Thanks
- @mgruszkiewicz for tracking down why Overwatch won't start on Sequoia (#8), and @Shenanigans1010 and @richageplayer for testing and confirming it (#8, #11)
- @hoaxlayer for spotting that Overwatch was being resized on a 1440p monitor (#9)
- @Hghnss for reporting that Xbox controllers weren't working (#10)
Thank you all again for all the feedback, I think Recall has an exciting future ahead and can't wait to see where it goes :)

Recall 1.1
Wow. I have to say, thank you all so much for the incredible feedback. I was not expecting this project to blow up like this! It's been so amazing and encouraging to read comments from strangers about how Recall has fulfilled their desire to play Overwatch on their Macs, and how well it runs. It's all beyond my wildest expectations, and I'm here to follow up with another update for Recall based on all of y'all's feedback. Version 1.1, here we go!
What's new
- Game Mode. Overwatch now runs in macOS Game Mode: your Mac puts the game ahead of background tasks, and AirPods and wireless controllers respond with less lag.
- Smoother after restarts and updates. Shaders Recall learned while you played now carry over when your Mac restarts or updates.
- Metal Performance HUD. Turn it on in Settings to see FPS, frame times and shader compiles in game.
- Graphics prep, in detail. Open Details while Recall prepares graphics to watch each shader get ready.
- Ultrawide and 5K monitors. Pick any resolution your monitor offers in Overwatch's Video settings, such as 5120 × 2160 on a 5K2K ultrawide. Recall remembers it for each display, so switching between your MacBook and a monitor needs no changes.
- Updating from 1.0? IF RECALL STAYS ON "INSTALLING THE UPDATE" FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE, PRESS OPTION-COMMAND-ESC, CHOOSE RECALL AND CLICK FORCE QUIT. 1.1 IS ALREADY INSTALLED AND OPENS ON ITS OWN. (oops! my bad teehee)

Recall 1.0
Welcome to Recall. A free, open-source app for playing Overwatch on Apple Silicon Macs.
I've been playing Overwatch on PC for more than four years, and I've always wanted to take it with me on my MacBook. Recall sets everything up, so you sign in to Battle.net, install the game and start playing. I hope you enjoy :)
What you get
- Smoother matches than CrossOver. On the same 14-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro, 16 GB), in the same custom match, Recall averaged 99.6 FPS to CrossOver's 58.4, with 1% lows nearly five times higher and 95% fewer stutters. Full results
- Aim that keeps up. Recall reads your mouse directly, up to 2,000 times a second, so your flicks and tracking reach the game sooner and none of your movement is lost.
- Guided setup. No Windows installation, CrossOver license or Terminal commands. Recall prepares everything and opens Battle.net for you.
- Your screen or your monitor. Play on your MacBook or on an external monitor at up to 4K, with the game installed on your Mac or an external SSD.
- Free. No price, trial, subscription, ads or account.
