TrapLight LaserBase 0.7.5 — automatic decentralized discovery
Automatic decentralized peer discovery is now implemented. After startup, LaserBase discovers running peers through the public BitTorrent mainline DHT and local multicast, authenticates their identities and synchronizes public signed records and photos. No TrapLight server or account is required. Choose Network → Disconnect / work offline to persistently disable discovery. Manual IP connections are available under Advanced.
Your saved library snapshots remain unchanged by the original author. Public IDs, revisions and per-revision feedback are preserved. DHT contact counts are not LaserBase user counts. Discovery advertises a network address; public material traffic is signed but is not encrypted. Private library notes and identity keys are not shared.
Automatic IPv4 router mapping is attempted when UPnP is available; globally reachable IPv6 is supported. Firewalls, strict NAT and CGNAT can prevent direct connections. This release does not implement universal NAT traversal or a compulsory relay server. Search covers records received from connected peers. No bundled example recipes yet.
Verified: automatic material/photo transfer with LAN discovery disabled through public DHT, live revisions, immutable personal saves and third-peer relay after the author disconnects. These tests used one physical computer with public IPv6; independent computers on different internet connections remain untested. Local-network regression also passed. Portable/Setup and update preservation results are recorded separately after final checks.
Also fixes clipped revision-history headers and lets users resize table columns while retaining their widths across refreshes. Early Windows x64 test release; the app does not control lasers.
The first internet discovery with an empty cache can take a few minutes. The Network page shows authenticated LaserBase participants separately from DHT routing contacts.
TrapLight LaserBase v0.7.4 — material revisions and protected saved copies
NETWORK LIMITATION: automatic decentralized internet discovery is not implemented in this build. P2P currently requires a manually entered reachable peer address. Offline library functions are available. Do not expect the Connect button to join a shared internet network. The automatic network implementation is in progress.
One material ID now groups authenticated revisions. Search shows one row; its arrow opens a paged history with separate ratings, spam reports and photos for each version. If the newest version is quarantined, search shows the previous permitted version.
Saved personal snapshots remain unchanged. Explicitly replacing a saved material requires confirmation, preserves its local ID, and changes only the material and photos; saved recipe settings remain unchanged. You can explicitly select an older version. Existing unversioned feedback is attributed to the initial revision. Older peers can relay revision feedback but need v0.7.4 to display it.
Local material edits are limited to ten per hour. Excessive incoming edits of one material are quarantined using signed timestamps. This is not complete protection against malicious clients or multiple identities. Each revision keeps the existing 30-day moderation policy.
From v0.7.2 / v0.7.3 use Update. From v0.7.0 / v0.7.1 close the app and install Setup manually into the existing folder. Keep your data folders.
Early Windows x64 test release. No bundled example recipes. Manual IP / port sharing and search over received records. The app does not control lasers; real two-machine testing is still needed.
TrapLight LaserBase v0.7.3 — independent personal library
My Library now keeps independent local snapshots of saved materials, recipes and checks, with separate local IDs linked to the original public record. Another author's edits no longer replace your saved text, settings or photos. Ratings remain attached to the original public ID, and public records continue to relay without creating private-copy duplicates.
Existing saved entries are migrated from the current local database state; older versions already overwritten before this update cannot be recovered. Saving a newly received material waits for its photos to finish downloading.
Includes the TrapLight symbol as the application and Setup icon, remembered device search filters, and update download progress.
For v0.7.0 / v0.7.1: close LaserBase and install Setup manually into the existing folder. Those versions have an updater shutdown bug. From v0.7.2, use Update. Keep your data folders.
Early Windows x64 test release. No bundled example recipes yet. Sharing uses manually entered IP / port; search covers received records. Testing on two separate computers is still needed. LaserBase does not control a laser.
TrapLight LaserBase v0.7.2 — update fix and progress
Fixes application shutdown before update installation and adds download percentage / MB and update stages on the splash screen.
Users of v0.7.0 or v0.7.1: install this release manually using Setup into your existing installation folder, with LaserBase closed. The old updater can remain stuck before installation. Keep your data folders; your database, photos and Peer ID are preserved.
Includes remembered device selection from v0.7.1. Early test release; no example recipes included, manual IP/port sharing, real two-computer testing still pending.
