Release list
Big performance boost and alpha threshold
In this new release the following noteworthy changes have been done:
- Bug fixes regarding incorrect specular calculations on some models
- Huge performance improvement in the shader, doubling fps in most cases
- Support for multithreaded execution of the voxelization algorithm, using up to 8 cores. Results in dramatic decrease in voxelization time
Shadows and other improvements
Added shadows (optionally, since they have a huge hit in performance)
Added specular lighting and specular mapping
Cleaned up octree code and prepared it for multithreaded voxelization
Initial release: 1.0
The Sparse Voxel Octree can do the following:
- Generate SVOs from a .obj file. If a .mtl file is in the same folder it will also use material data and textures.
- A depth level can be provided
- Visualize the SVO with basic Blinn-Phong lighting. It provides intersection visualization and loads data from diffuse textures
- The level is interactive with the WASD keys and the mouse. To toggle mouse capture press Q
- Lighting, skybox and color correction inputs are provided with ImGui
- SVO information, as well as performance metrics are provided as well
- Save the SVO to a binary file for fast loading next time the program is run
The program is made to be run from the terminal with command line arguments. Run the program with no arguments to get a description of the options. You can also see them below:
Usage: ./GPU_SVOEngine [options]
Options:
-d <depth> Set the depth of the octree, ignored if -l is added
-m <path> Load model from file, ignored if -l is added
-s <path> Save octree to file, ignored if -m is not added or if -l is added
-l <path> Load octree from file
