Villagers were given an overhaul with ValhallaMMO! Designed to require the player to take better care of their Villager populations and being less exploitable.
Firstly, Villagers now have a "Happiness" stat, which is a numeric value dependent on their relationship to the interacting player and their environment. If they're happy, they give you discounts. If they're unhappy, they don't wanna trade with you at all!
They get happiness from varying sources:
- Free space
If a Villager has insufficient free area to move around in, they get extremely unhappy. Trapping a Villager alone is enough to make them want to stop trading with you. - Light
Villagers don't want to be left in the dark! - Company
Villagers don't want to be completely alone nor be overcrowded! If a Villager has at least 5 other Villagers in a 64-block radius they consider themselves in good company, but if these 5 Villagers are in an 8-block radius they consider themselves overcrowded! - Safety
If a villager feels actively threatened by a Zombie or Player, they aren't as happy! - Health
If a villager is fully healed, they're happy! - Job Security
If a villager has traded recently, they're happy! If they haven't traded in a long time, they get anxious! - Trust
If the Player has not recently harmed the Villager, they trust the player won't harm them. There is a grace period if you accidentally punch a Villager, too. - Reputation and Renown
If you have a good relationship to the Villager and the village as a whole, they're happy! - Luxury
Villagers want a nice environment, which is decided based on what blocks and entities are in their surroundings! They want at least 5 of the following things in their surroundings to consider themselves in a nice area:
