@Augani Augani released this 15 Jul 21:19

Dory 0.3.0 is the first production-focused Apple Silicon release. It ships a self-contained, signed, and notarized Docker and Linux-machine runtime for macOS 14 or later.

Highlights

  • Native Apple Silicon engine with Docker 29, Compose, Buildx, kubectl, local networking, bind mounts, volumes, images, containers, and custom networks.
  • Persistent Dory data drive on the Mac, with capacity controls, verified backup/restore, and workload data preserved across app updates.
  • Transactional migration of images, containers, volumes, networks, writable layers, port bindings, and running/stopped/paused state from supported local Docker engines.
  • Full app UI for engine behavior, resources, networking, storage, imports, machines, snapshots, health, compatibility, and cleanup.
  • Persistent Alpine Linux machines for normal CLI/server workloads, package installation, services, networking, shares, snapshots, and backups. The initial machine login is root with /bin/sh; configurable users and desktop/GUI VM support are future work.
  • Self-contained command-line tools, active diagnostics, support bundles, auto-idle modes, amd64 container emulation on Apple Silicon, and experimental Venus GPU acceleration.

Requirements

  • Apple Silicon Mac
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later
  • Intel Mac support is planned for a later release.

Qualification

The release passed the full app, Swift, Rust, UI, website, notarization, clean-install, active Docker/network/filesystem, Linux-machine persistence, and live migration gates. See release-manifest.json and the CycloneDX SBOM for exact artifact provenance.
