Tera — Beta 0.4.0

A private, offline-first companion app for fictional partners, worlds, and
lore. Android 12 and up.

⚠️ Read this before updating from 0.3.0 or earlier

The package name has changed — from app.tera.auriel to
app.auriel.tera, so it matches the other apps in the family.

Android identifies an installed app by that string and nothing else, and
there is no supported way to change it in place. 0.4.0 installs beside
your existing Tera rather than over it, with its own data directory and no
access to the old one's.

To bring your data across:

1. Open your old Tera → Settings → Backup & Restore → Export. Save
   the .trbz somewhere you can find it.
2. Install 0.4.0 from below.
3. Open it → Settings → Backup & Restore → Import → pick that file.
4. Check everything is there, then uninstall the old app.

This is a one-time break. Tera is in beta and this is the kind of change
that comes with it. The name is settled now; future releases update
normally.

0.4.0 is also the first signed release. Earlier builds went out with a
debug key. That is another reason this one cannot install over an old one,
and from here on every release is signed with the same key and will update
cleanly.

Moving characters between apps

Settings → Characters → Transfer writes a .dexpack, a small archive that
other character apps can read, and reads theirs.

This is not a backup. A .trbz is the whole of Tera and restoring one
replaces everything; a .dexpack carries characters, and importing one only
ever adds to your roster. Both formats stay, doing different jobs.

Nothing an incoming file carries is thrown away. Other apps track things
Tera has no field for — an element type, most often. Rather than drop them,
they are written into the partner's description as a short labelled list:

- **Element:** fire
- **Pronouns:** she/her

The same goes for a field invented by a future version of the format: any key
this version doesn't recognise lands there too, rather than being skipped.

Only a partner's avatar travels. Galleries, conversations, alarms, and the
relationship stay here — a pack has no opinion about them, so it does not get
to clear them on an update either.

Partners are matched by name. Anything unrecognised lands quietly; anything
that collides stops and asks — skip, update, or file it alongside — and
defaults to skipping, which is the only choice that cannot lose something you
already had.

Tap a file to open it

.trbz and .dexpack files are associated with Tera, so tapping one in your
file manager — or sharing one to Tera from another app — opens it directly. A
backup goes to the usual restore confirmation; a pack goes to the import
review. A file that arrives before onboarding is finished is still waiting
when you reach the dashboard.

An icon, at last

Two flowers grown into each other on a crossing pair of stems — one cool
blue-to-purple, one warm yellow-to-red, on deep twilight plum. The blooms are
woven rather than set side by side: each passes both over and under the other.

Drawn as vector paths, so it is sharp at every launcher density, with a
monochrome layer for Android 13+ themed icons.

Also

• Minimum Android version is now 12 (API 31), in line with the rest of the
  family.
• Everything you already had carries over untouched, as always — every schema
  change stays additive, and older .trbz backups still restore and migrate
  up in place.
