Can't stop/start a site

Quick summary

I installed Studio and created site with WooCommerce and then I tried to stop the site, but UI still shows it is running but it is not. I'm not able to access or restart the site any more even after restarting the Studio app.

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a new site (Note: I enabled custom local domain in advanced settings)
2. Click stop

What you expected to happen

I would expect site to stop and the studio UI to display a button to start it again.

What actually happened

Studio UI show's it is running but it is not.

I had to delete the site and then recreated it and now it seems to work 🤞

After going to Edit site and enabling debugging I ended up having an opposite issue. The Studio report the site is stopped but it is running.

Hey @costasovo, thank you for reporting these issues! I could reproduce both of these as flashes, but not as the wrong state being stuck on the UI. I think there might be something else in your environment, other than the custom domain, that makes it behave differently.

I'm working on a fix for the flashes and will investigate this further, but in the meantime, could you share the Studio logs to help with debugging? Thanks!

@gcsecsey I've deleted the site and recreated it and that solved the issue. I'm happy to provide logs. Could you point me where to grab the logs?

Yes, logs would be really helpful to understand what went wrong originally. Since the issue occurred earlier, you'll want the log file from that day rather than today's. Studio saves a separate, date-stamped log for each day. Open the logs folder directly:

On Mac

1. In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder… and paste:

   ~/Library/Logs/Studio/
   

2. Find the file named studio-YYYYMMDD.log for the date you hit the issue, eg. studio-20260714.log for July 14.

On Windows

1. Paste this into the File Explorer address bar and hit Enter:

   %APPDATA%\Studio\logs\
   

2. Find the file named studio-YYYYMMDD.log for the date you hit the issue.
