npm@latest(v12+) droppednpm-shrinkwrap.jsonsupport innpm ci, requiringpackage-lock.jsonexclusively. Since this repo usesnpm-shrinkwrap.json(intentional — publishes lockfile with the package), the "Verify signatures and provenance statements" job was failing.Changes
.github/workflows/ci.yml: Removenpm install -g npm@latestfrom theauditjob — the Node LTS runner ships npm 11.16.0, which supports bothnpm-shrinkwrap.jsonandnpm audit signatures(available since npm 8.13.0). This aligns theauditjob withchecksandtest, neither of which ever needed this step.
