Research Direction Document (Step 0a)
The entire Step 0 has been redesigned around the Research Direction Document — a structured 8-section document produced through 4 phases before brainstorming begins:
- Core Framing — user-driven dialogue extracting research question, motivation, hypothesis, expected results, and constraints
- Literature & Landscape Survey — automated OpenAlex + WebSearch populating prior work, methodology landscape, and research gaps
- Document Draft — AI synthesizes user input + literature into a T13 template document
- Review & Refinement — user reviews and modifies via interactive dialogue
Pipeline Reordering
Step 0 now flows: Setup → Research Direction → Persona Casting → Weights → Pre-flight, with each step informed by the Research Direction Document.
Smarter Pre-flight
Pre-flight no longer re-runs broad topic searches. It loads Phase 2 literature as baseline and runs only persona-targeted supplemental searches.
