Leafdown's third alpha adds document tabs, multiple windows, and a single running Leafdown for files opened from File Explorer, and makes large documents open and respond much faster. Windows x64 installers are available below; this remains a prerelease.

Highlights

  • Open several documents in one window as tabs, each keeping its own unsaved edits, undo history, place in the document, and search.
  • Open more than one window with File > New window (Ctrl+Shift+N), each with its own tabs, folder, and navigator. A file is open in only one window at a time, and File > Quit (Ctrl+Q) now closes every window, asking about each one's unsaved edits.
  • Files opened from File Explorer while Leafdown runs become tabs in the window you used last instead of starting another copy of Leafdown.
  • Markdown files associated with Leafdown get their own document icon, and the article navigator lists a folder's other files, such as images and PDFs, dimmed.
  • Large documents open and respond much faster: tables, code blocks, headings, list items, and block gutters no longer stall opening or slow every keystroke, and an opened file shows as soon as it is read instead of after its folder is scanned.
  • Ctrl+click follows links again, and the editor gutter, scrollbars, and outline navigation behave more predictably.

Downloads and verification

  • Leafdown_0.1.0-alpha.3_x64-setup.exe: installer for the current Windows user.
  • Leafdown_0.1.0-alpha.3_x64_en-US.msi: installer for all users; requires administrator access.

Installer install, upgrade from alpha 2, uninstall, and Open with lifecycle checks are deferred for this release by maintainer decision. Automated application and build verification is recorded in the release issue.
