Who am I?

Game Developer & Programmer

Hello! I'm Brandon — a game developer and programmer studying Computer Science at California State University, Fullerton (graduating December 2025). I’ve worked across multiple disciplines including gameplay programming, design, front-end development, and music/sound composition.

I grew up grinding competitive games for hours, always focused on improving one step at a time. I bring that same mindset to development: rapid learning, constant iteration, and a drive to create meaningful player experiences.

Feel free to explore some of the projects I've worked on!

Game Projects

A Slice of Lunch

A cozy puzzle game about slicing and packing food into a lunchbox.

I contributed sound design, music, gameplay support, and trailer direction. This was my first major audio-driven role, and it taught me how sound shapes pacing, clarity, and emotional tone.

Key challenges & solutions:

  • Learning music production from scratch: Studied genre references, breaking down what made certain melodies or textures feel cozy and relaxing.
  • Iterating on audio direction: Used playtest feedback to refine timing, transitions, and reward cues.
  • Improving gameplay feel: Helped identify issues in responsiveness and feedback loops and aligned audio cues with gameplay moments.
  • Creating the gameplay trailer: Analyzed genre-leading trailers to highlight pacing, mechanics, and mood effectively.

Last Oasis

A narrative platformer created in a 3-week game jam.

Key contributions:

  • Led a 3-person team: Aligned design goals, scoped effectively, and maintained a clear production timeline.
  • Implemented save/persistence systems: Ensured narrative continuity and smooth transitions between gameplay segments.
  • Composed ambience and theme music: Helped establish emotional tone and environmental pacing.

A Totally Normal Bike Ride

A Foddian-style rage game featuring a unicycle-riding bear.

I served as team lead and primary designer for this 3-day game jam.

Key challenges & solutions:

  • Managing scope under tight time constraints: Focused the team on delivering a strong core physics loop first.
  • Maintaining a clear design direction: Made quick decisions when gameplay clarity or difficulty spiked unexpectedly.
  • Tuning the physics feel: Iterated rapidly on acceleration, friction, and level layout to achieve the intended challenge level.
  • Key lesson learned: Recognized the importance of delegating tasks to avoid bottlenecks during rapid development.

Experience

Game & Front-End Developer

I contribute to gameplay programming and front-end development for this startup.

Key challenges & solutions:

  • Working on a rapidly evolving product: Implemented updates and prototyped new features each sprint while coordinating with designers and artists.
  • Overhauled game UI and React website: Updated visual identity and improved interaction flow to match the new brand direction.
  • Designed an AWS-based save system: Enabled seamless pick-up-and-play sessions with persistent player progress.
