I've provided two recent job advertisement for lectureships in ecology (one from a UK research-intensive university, another from a UK teaching-intensive university).
Pick one of the advertisement: 1 2
Look over the required experience and desired personal profile in these applications. Highlight where you think:
- you have equivalent or better experience
- that you now think you know how you gain that experience
- you're still unsure how you could gain this experience in your current position
You can always use this list now as a starting point to discuss gaining some of the experience with your mentor, PI, or just a friend / colleague - they'll probably have ideas or suggestions that you didn't think of!
Provided here are the two complete applications that excerpts were taken from for the reflective reading analysis. Both were successful in gaining the applicants Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy via University of Exeter's professional development programme.
