Classes

Before a match, players will choose a class to play as. Each class has a different weapon progression. They can pick between three classes: Gunner, Support, and Tank. Each class is identical in every way except weapons and cosmetics. Tank also has ability to shield.

Gear

At the beginning of the game, players will only have their classes' starting weapon and no armor. Armor and weapon upgrades are scattered across the map. Walking on top of one of these will automatically pick them up. Armor will only be picked up if the player isn't wearing armor. Weapon upgrades will automatically be applied to the player's weapon if possible.

Weapon Progression

  • Gunner
    1. Knife
    2. Assault Rifle
    3. Advanced Assault Rifle
  • Support
    1. Knife
    2. Shotgun
    3. Advanced Shotgun
  • Tank
    1. Knife
    2. Pistol
    3. Advanced Pistol

Combat

Players will aim with the mouse and press E to shoot. When a bullet connects with a player, the player will take damage. The amount of damage is dependent on the weapon. If the player is wearing armor, the armor will negate all damage from a single bullet, then is destroyed. If the player has a shield, they can raise it by pressing F. The shield will block all damage when raised, but prevents the player from shooting.

Items

Weapons

Knife: Melee-only weapon. It does high damage. It has a high cooldown.
Assault Rifle: Medium range weapon. Each bullet does slight damage with medium cooldown.
Advanced Assault Rifle: Long range weapon. Each bullet does slight damage with fast cooldown.
Shotgun: Short range weapon. Fires a spread of multiple bullets each shot. Each bullet does slight damage with longer cooldown.
Advanced Shotgun: Medium range weapon. Bullet spread is decreased from shotgun. Each bullet does small damage with medium cooldown.
Pistol: Medium range weapon that fires two shots at a time. Each bullet does medium damage. Medium accuracy and medium cooldown.
Advanced Pistol: Medium range weapon. Accuracy is higher than pistol and cooldown is shorter.

Armor

There will only be one type of armor in the game. It will automatically be picked up by the player. It absorbs all damage from a single bullet/attack, then is destroyed.

Difficulty Levels

There are two difficulty levels: normal and hardcore. Hardcore has a shorter game length, more enemies, higher scores, and fewer pickups.

Cheat Mode

Cheat mode (a.k.a Schaub Mode): play as a boss character with multiple easter eggs. Player will have 10x health and super powerful weapon.

Losing

The player will lose when they run out of health or the timer runs out.

Scoring

Enemy eliminated by player: 100 points
Weapon upgraded: 20 points
Armor equipped: 10 points
Hardcore multiplier 1.5x

AI Players

Computer controlled players will spawn randomly across the map. Their class will randomly be selected. They will collect upgrades and armor like the player. They will randomly roam the map looking for gear. They will shoot nearby players and other AI. Their accuracy is dependent on the difficulty level.

Art Style

This game is a 2D platformer. This means the world will be viewed from the side, not top-down. The map will be using artwork from Kenney's Platformer Pack Redux. The players will be from Craftpix's Special Forces Characters Pack.

Music & Sounds

Various creative commons and other effects.
