Onyx-2.8.0-win-x64.zip below → unzip anywhere → open Onyx.exe. No installer, no admin rights.
Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because the app isn't code-signed yet: click More info → Run anyway.

What's new in 2.8

• One Organize screen. Pick how to sort (the recommended way is on top), make a plan, review it as the new folders or as every single move, then apply. Undo is one click.
• AI that runs on your PC. New "On this PC (Ollama)" option: free, private, works offline. Build Onyx.bat can set it up for you and picks a model that suits your hardware.
• This PC page with your recent folders, drives and the usual places.
• Preview beside the list. Dock the viewer next to your files and it follows your selection; a filmstrip for flipping through pictures.
• Cleaner sidebar. Folders show only folders and drive the Library like File Explorer. Tags are grouped into Places, Filters and Tags, with distinct colors for your most-used tags.
• Windows 11 style right-click menus, resizable Library columns, and a calmer start screen.
• Dialogs that delete things now start on Cancel, and you can change a shortcut by clicking it.
