What's New
Complete migration from Electron + Python to Tauri v2 + Rust.
Highlights
- Native Rust backend — all device control, storage, scheduling, and credential management runs in-process (no more Python dependency)
- Massively reduced memory usage — expected ~30-80 MB vs ~150-300 MB with Electron
- Smaller installer — MSI ~5 MB, NSIS ~3.5 MB
- System tray with quick actions (Turn On/Off, Brightness 25/50/100%)
- Close-to-tray behavior with auto-reconnect on startup
- OS-native credential storage (Windows Credential Manager / Linux Secret Service)
- Removed alpha/opacity slider from color picker (not applicable for LED strips)
Breaking Changes
- Requires Windows WebView2 runtime (pre-installed on Windows 10/11)
- Python backend and Electron shell completely removed
