OpenToolkit 0.3.9
OpenToolkit 0.3.9
- The capture crosshair sits exactly on your pointer: no more lag when you move.
- Word cloud on Home: "Words you say most" shows the things you talk about, sized by how often you say them. Click a word to see what you say near it.
OpenToolkit 0.3.8
OpenToolkit 0.3.8
- A real canvas in the editor: the canvas fits your screenshot with room to work, and you can drag its edges to make it bigger or smaller.
- Move images around: a second image you add is its own layer; drag it anywhere on the canvas.
- Pinch to zoom and two-finger scroll in the editor.
- Smart highlighter: drag over text and the highlight snaps neatly onto the words. Hold Option for freehand.
- Clearer toolbar: every tool shows its name, shortcut and what it does.
- The thumbnail stack glides to the display you're on, and the menu-bar icon is slimmer so it isn't cut off.
OpenToolkit 0.3.7
OpenToolkit 0.3.7
- First-launch download recovers by itself: if the speech model download is interrupted, OpenToolkit retries automatically and shows progress. If it still can't finish, click Try again.
- Thumbnails follow you: the screenshot stack moves to the display your pointer is on.
- Double-click to edit: a single click on a thumbnail no longer opens the editor.
- Closing the editor takes you back to the app you were using instead of the OpenToolkit window.
OpenToolkit 0.3.6
- Simpler sidebar: Home, Screenshots, Dictation and Notes, with Settings at the bottom. Settings now has its own sections, from Software Update to Permissions.
- Capture across monitors fixed: the crosshair follows your pointer onto every display again.
- Measure your typing speed: "time saved" on Home can now compare dictation with your own typing speed.
- Cleaner Home (no quick-action row), and smoother thumbnail tidying in the side panel.
OpenToolkit 0.3.5
- New Home: see your day, week or month at a glance: words dictated, typing time saved, screenshots, recordings and drawing, when you work, where you dictate, and the words you say most. It's all counted on your Mac; turn it off or reset it in Settings.
- Listening glow: after "Hey Toolkit", a soft glow around the pointer shows OpenToolkit is waiting for your command.
- Easier command editing: Customize Hey Toolkit Commands… in the menu bar.
- Clearer permissions: OpenToolkit now appears under its own name in Login Items; larger menu-bar icon.
OpenToolkit 0.3.4
- First launch: permission status now updates straight away while the speech model downloads, so allowing Microphone or Accessibility shows up immediately. No restart needed.
- Restart speech no longer freezes the app, and it waits until the first-time model download has finished.
- The Microphone row now shows the actual permission (Allowed, Not asked yet or Denied).
OpenToolkit 0.3.3
- Capture across monitors: the capture crosshair follows your pointer onto any display, and you can drag one selection across two screens.
- Cleaner crosshair: a small crosshair with coordinates replaces the lines across the screen.
- Cursor effects for recordings: make the cursor larger, add a highlight ring, and show clicks. They appear only in the video or GIF; set them in Recording or the ⇧⌘5 bar's Cursor menu.
- Update badge: OpenToolkit checks for new versions once a day (turn it off in Settings) and shows a red dot on the menu-bar icon, an "Update Available" menu line, a bubble on Settings and a Dock badge.
- New icon: a clean ⌘ command-key icon for the app and menu bar.
OpenToolkit 0.3.2
- Fixes in-app updates getting stuck on "Restarting OpenToolkit…". From this version on, Download & install restarts the app by itself.
- Updating from 0.3.0 or 0.3.1: after clicking Download & install, when it shows "Restarting OpenToolkit…", Force Quit OpenToolkit (⌥⌘⎋) within a minute, and the update finishes and reopens. Or download the DMG below and replace the app.
OpenToolkit 0.3.1
- Capture crosshair: ⇧⌘4 now shows a crosshair with guide lines and coordinates, so you always know you're in capture mode. Pick its colour in Screenshots › Settings.
- Shutter sound when a screenshot is taken (can be turned off).
- Glass capture bar (⇧⌘5): Area, Full Screen, Scrolling, Video and GIF in one floating bar, with fixed size and microphone toggles.
- Scrolling capture: press Start and scroll; OpenToolkit captures as you go and stitches the result.
- Screenshot history slides down across the top of the screen: click a capture to bring it back, or drag it straight into an app.
- Side panel: newest capture on top, click to edit, and a capture disappears from the panel once you drag it into an app (it stays in History).
- Drawing colours: choose a colour (or any custom colour) in Annotation; compact line and text size menus.
OpenToolkit 0.3.0
- Update from inside the app. Check for Updates… now downloads, verifies (Apple-notarized, same developer) and installs new versions, then restarts. Your history, settings and permissions stay put.
- More reliable dictation pasting in Electron/Chromium apps, plus fixes so Fn never stops responding and "Hey Toolkit, stop transcribing" isn't pasted.
- Drawing shortcuts no longer hijack ⌃A/⌃E/⌃D in other apps; ⌥⌘D toggles drawing (hold to draw while held).
- New menu-bar menu with every capture, recording, drawing and dictation action and its shortcut.
- Settings › Shortcuts: every hotkey in one place, with clear buttons and conflict warnings.
- Screenshot editor fixes (Retina-size exports, GIFs never overwritten) and an MIT licence.
Apple Silicon, macOS 14+. Early preview: test in your own apps before relying on it.
