  • You can point Bees at the Claude Code CLI yourself. In Settings, AI, type its path or pick
it with Browse when Bees cannot find it on its own.
  • A process with no approval stage saves its files to its own output folder without stopping
    to ask first.
  • The default light theme is Corporate.

  • Linux builds run on Ubuntu 22.04 and newer. The 0.2.0 Linux downloads need Ubuntu 24.04.
  • On Windows, an update stops Bees' background work before it installs, and Bees opens
again if the installer fails to start.
  • An update asks about running work once the download is done, not before it starts.
  • The local model engine runs K2 Horizon models.

Bees v0.2.0

Bees runs a team of AI agents on your own computer. You describe an outcome, agents work through it stage by stage, and a reviewer checks each result. Your files, browser sessions and passwords stay on your machine. This is the first public release.

Download

Computer File
Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) Bees_0.2.0_aarch64.dmg
Mac with Intel Bees_0.2.0_x64.dmg
Windows 10 or 11, x64 Bees_0.2.0_x64-setup.exe
Linux x64, Debian or Ubuntu Bees_0.2.0_amd64.deb
Linux x64, any distro Bees_0.2.0_amd64.AppImage
  • Mac: open the DMG and drag Bees to Applications. Both Mac builds are signed and notarized by Apple.
  • Windows: the installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns. Click "More info", check the name reads Bees, then "Run anyway".
  • Linux: install the deb with sudo apt install ./Bees_0.2.0_amd64.deb, or make the AppImage executable and run it.

You need 8 GB of memory for a cloud model, or 16 GB for a local one, plus 15 GB of free disk. SHA256SUMS below has a checksum for every file.

Coming from 0.1.1

0.2 keeps its data in a new local database, and 0.1.1 data is not moved over. 0.1.1 will not offer this version as an update. Back up your 0.1.1 data, then install 0.2.0 by hand.

What's new

  • Bees updates itself from now on. When a new version is out it offers to install it and restart, and asks first if work is still running.
  • Work keeps running when you close the window. Quitting warns you when work is still running or queued.
  • Run files preview in the app: spreadsheets, Word documents, slides, images, PDFs, HTML, audio, video and code.
  • You can add your own local model from a direct HTTPS link to a .gguf file.
  • OpenCode Zen connects like every other AI connection, so an OpenCode Go plan runs the models it offers.
  • Completed reviews show the worker's plain result and files in the conversation, followed by the verdict.
  • The Mac download is about 300 MB smaller. Each download now carries only what its own computer needs.

Safety

  • Agents cannot read your passwords, browser profiles or Bees' own files. On a stage that needs approval, sending email waits for your yes.
  • Each run can only use the tools it was given, even when a tool connects partway through.
  • Only the Bees window can talk to the local server behind it.
  • Removing Bees on a Mac asks in a real system window that a script cannot click through.

Fixes

  • A failed run no longer keeps showing as running, and Bees stops trying to recover it on every start.
  • A run Bees has lost track of no longer hangs forever. Bees stops it and says how long it had been quiet.
  • A long answer no longer gets its run stopped while the model is still writing.
  • A retry no longer leaves the run it replaced on the dashboard, still asking to be approved.
  • A stage that was starting when Bees restarted picks its conversation back up instead of failing.
  • Hitting a model's output limit now reports a failure you can retry, not a false success.
  • A tool that saves a file writes it inside the run's folder, where the run can read it back.
  • Adding an API again for a host you already have keeps the key you typed.
  • A custom schedule interval, such as every 5 minutes, survives opening and saving the schedule.
  • Planning runs show up in the Process Runs list.
  • The same output folder can be picked more than once.
  • The custom answer box in reviews is now a multi-line text area.

Known limits

  • Windows and Linux builds are not code-signed yet.
  • The local model runs on the CPU on Windows and Linux. NVIDIA and Vulkan acceleration are not included in this build.
