How to Install the Engine

The suggested way to install the engine is through our Steam Page Alternatively, you can install the engine as a zip file from the GitHub Page

Creating your first Project

If you have have the Steam version simply launch the engine. If you have downloaded the zip from the GitHub page unzip it, and launch "Tilky_Launcher.exe" (Note: Windows Defender may incorrectly mark it as a threat. Simply click "Run anyways" and it should work fine)

You will be greeted with a page similar to this one:

Click "Engine Versions" and select the version you want to use. We suggest the latest (stable) version which should appear at the top of the list. Click "Create Project" select an engine version, give it a name and click "Create" You will be greeted with a blank level automatically created for you. Go to the next pages to read on how to use the engine. Below are brief overviews

There are 4 main parts you will interact with while making a game:

Level Editor

A 2D, top-down representation of the level. In the map editor, the horizontal map plane represents the world's X/Z axes. Y is vertical and is controlled mainly by sector floor and ceiling heights and entity transforms. Here, you will build the level. You can create and move sectors and walls. And place your entities in the level. If you are using the built-in IDE you can also write your Lua scripts here.

UI Editor

A dedicated screen to edit the UI and build a HUD for the game. UI entities also use the same underlying ECS system.

Runtime Editor

In the runtime editor you can edit your level in 3D mode. This allows you to make precise adjustments and see your changes instantly.

Play Mode

Press 'Play' and immedeatly start playing your game. This mode is a near-identical version of how your game will be when you export it as a standalone game. The only difference is that the Play Mode offers extra debug functionality like a console
