Request: Prevent breaking light blocks

Hello, I would like to report an issue regarding light blocks on the spawn.

Players are able to break light blocks using certain modifications/modded clients. In vanilla Minecraft, these blocks normally cannot be broken because they do not have a hitbox, but some client modifications make it possible, for example this mod.

Describe the solution you'd like.

Would it be possible to add an option to prevent breaking light blocks? Ideally by implementing it into the existent settings blockbreak option, so breaking these blocks could be disabled.

Describe alternatives you've considered.

I also tried using a WorldGuard region, but it unfortunately does not support this functionality either.

@lOlkOmOx Are you sure that blocks are not just broken on the client side? I would be surprised if blocks are broken on the server. What I mean is, if you go to the spawn with a player, do they see the light? They should.

Yes, I saw and tried it. The player actually broke the light, it dropped like item on the ground, I picked it up myself and was able to interact with it (like normal item, not just ghost item). The block also disappears permanently from the spawn island. It is still gone after relogging and even after restarting the server. The player does not have any (build) permissions on the spawn at all and cannot break any other blocks, only this light block.

Thanks for the report. A couple of things to clarify:

1. The mod you linked (Visible Barriers) is a client-side rendering mod — it makes invisible blocks visible to the player using it, but it doesn't bypass any server-side checks. A player running Visible Barriers cannot actually break a light block any more easily than a vanilla player.
2. BentoBox already protects light blocks. We listen to Bukkit's BlockBreakEvent and cancel it for non-members trying to break blocks on someone else's island. That event fires server-side regardless of which client (vanilla, modded, or hacked) sent the break packet, so the protection applies uniformly.
3. If you're actually seeing players break light blocks on protected island areas, that would mean either (a) the players have permission to break blocks there (check the island flags / their rank), (b) they have a bypass permission like bentobox.mod.bypassprotect / op, or (c) you've found a server bug worth a reproducible test case with logs.

Could you confirm exactly what happened (gamemode of the player, their island rank, blockbreak flag setting, were they op) and we can dig further?
