v1.0 — Plex Homescreen Sync

Matches now show up automatically on each person's own Plex home screen — no smart collections, no setup, and strictly private to whoever actually matched on them.

New Features

  • Automatic Plex homescreen sync. When you match on a movie, it's added to a personal "[Your Name]'s Kino Swipe Matches" row on your Plex home screen — and only yours. Other users never see your matches, including the server admin's own home screen unless they were part of the match.
  • Zero setup required. No smart collections to create, no Plex configuration needed. It just works the first time you get a match.
  • Per-user opt-out toggle. New switch in the main menu (Plex users only) lets anyone turn homescreen syncing off — and back on — at any time. Turning it off hides the row immediately; turning it back on restores it instantly.
  • Automatic cleanup. Deleting a match in Kino Swipe removes it from your Plex home screen too, instantly.
  • "Delete All" in Match History. Clear your entire match history in one action — and every movie in it is removed from your homescreen collection as well.

How it works (for the curious)

This was actually quite difficult to get working as Plex admins use a different token than remote users, but basically each Plex user who's ever gotten a match gets their own private collection on the server, promoted to their home screen and hidden from everyone else via Plex's per-friend content filtering — the same mechanism behind parental content restrictions. No two collections share a title, so there's no risk of one person's matches bleeding into another's.

##Upgrading

No new environment variables or configuration required. Existing PLEX_TOKEN (admin) and PLEX_URL settings are reused. No new dependencies — PlexAPI was already a requirement.

##Known limitations

  • Plex's own home screen can occasionally cache hub contents server-side; a manual refresh or brief wait resolves it. This is a Plex Media Server behavior, not something Kino Swipe controls.
  • Homescreen sync is Plex-only; Jellyfin sessions are unaffected.
