Spotifast v1.0.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 18 Oct 13:03

Spotifast 1.0.2 tells Vokko what you are playing, and tidies the sidebar.

New

  • The now-playing snapshot says what is playing: it carries the kind (track, episode) and the Spotify URI, so Vokko can show "Listening to Spotify".

Fixed

  • The sidebar tint runs unbroken under Search: the rule that cut it is gone.

Full changelog: v1.0.1...v1.0.2

Windows x64 only. Built from d48469abc623b4b5c9e324a50d3594692f8e2b73.

Spotifast v1.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 16:17

Spotifast 1.0.1 speaks the AI DJ in every language the app has, and brings in crmne's newest work past 0.13.3, before crmne has released it.

New

  • The AI DJ is translated: its page, settings, approval cards, error messages and what-to-do hints follow the app's language, and its chat dates use the app's date format.

Also from crmne

  • The macOS tray menu opens on a click and stays working when windows change.
  • Spotifast starts cleanly in the background on macOS, even when the Dock attaches late.
  • The Dock shows Spotifast's artwork when run outside the app bundle.
  • librespot can remove one upcoming track and follows live Connect device, player and queue state.

Full changelog: v1.0.0...v1.0.1

Windows x64 only. Built from 2fb396486e186af6cb093ae88aeb1e53e27b4686.

Spotifast v1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 14:40

Spotifast 1.0.0 is the first release of this app as its own project. It brings in crmne's Spotifast up to 0.13.3, with this app's own features on top, and from now on it numbers its own versions. The built-in updater keeps following this repository's releases.

New

  • Transitions between songs. Choose Off, Crossfade or Automix in Settings; Mix playlists play their own transitions.
  • An AI DJ. It picks and plays music through your own Claude Code, and asks before it removes or renames anything.
  • Upcoming songs load ahead. The next tracks are fetched into the audio cache, so skipping and the next song start without waiting on the network.
  • Mirror and LED visualizers in the player bar, next to Spectrum and Waveform.
  • The sidebar takes the page's cover colour.
  • Choose what the Library sidebar shows: its sections, a sort control, and By You.
  • Shelves scroll with arrows instead of a scroll bar.
  • An opt-in profiler and a native performance build, for finding slow frames.

Fixed

  • Your playlists still list while Spotify's Web API turns requests away, read from your account's playlist list instead.
  • The artwork disk cache stays under 512 MiB.

From crmne 0.13.1 to 0.13.3

A frame rate setting for the visualizers, F for full-screen lyrics, playback that reconnects by itself after a network drop, no more freezes while the disk is busy or stalls with a large MilkDrop presets folder, Google Cast speakers checked as genuine, and stronger sign-in, cover art downloads and MilkDrop preset loading. See crmne's 0.13.1, 0.13.2 and 0.13.3 notes.

Full changelog: https://github.com/Berkay2002/spotifast/commits/v1.0.0

Windows x64 only. Built from 7d660e93a15f7b121d8155fec3517e95d5b0109a.

Spotifast 0.13.0 plays on Google Cast speakers, checks the release signature before it installs an update, and comes to Windows as a Windows Installer package. More than thirty people contributed to it.

New

  • Play on Google Cast speakers and groups. Cast speakers and speaker groups now appear in the device picker. Turn on local playback, pick the speaker, and Spotifast starts Spotify on it; from then on it plays like any other Spotify Connect device. Cast devices use certificates that your computer's trust store doesn't hold, so Spotifast accepts the certificate the device presents: whatever answers at the address of the speaker you pick on your local network receives a token issued for that speaker, not your reusable sign-in. See Google Cast playback and how it connects. By @izadiegizabal. (crmne#858)

  • Updates must carry the release's signature. Spotifast now installs an update only when the release's checksums.txt has a valid Ed25519 signature from the Spotifast release key, then checks the download against it. A missing or wrong signature means no update. By @Josmar-o; thanks @realrandolph for the security audit that recommended it. (crmne#836)

  • A Windows Installer package (.msi). Antivirus engines kept flagging the old setup program, so Windows now gets a Windows Installer package for both x64 and ARM PCs. It installs for your user only, without an administrator password, like before. This release ships both:

    • for a new install, or to install by hand, pick the .msi; run over an existing Spotifast, it takes the installation over and keeps your settings, folder and Start menu entry, and Windows lists one Spotifast;
    • if you update from inside Spotifast, do nothing: 0.12.0 updates to this release through the setup program (-setup.exe), and from 0.13.0 on, updates move you to the .msi by themselves;
    • the next release ships only the .msi.

    By @crmne.

  • Ukrainian. Spotifast is now available in Ukrainian. By @bun4uk. (crmne#718)

  • Upcoming albums and Pre-save. Opening an upcoming album's Spotify link shows its artwork, a countdown to release and the songs you can already preview, with a Pre-save button that adds it to your library. It needs local playback. By @github-lover-9999. (crmne#830)

  • Remove one song from the queue. A queued song's menu can now take just that song out of Playing next. By @ftupas; thanks @Raus0n. (crmne#724, crmne#721)

  • Play a song by name from the command line. spotifast play-search <words> searches Spotify with your sign-in and plays the best match; --kind album, artist or playlist picks something else. Handy for launchers, scripts and voice assistants. By @oxatruchdev. (crmne#738)

  • Show only your own playlists. A By You toggle under Playlists in the Library hides the playlists you only follow. By @shaswat28. (crmne#706)

  • Spotifast's own title bar on Linux. Turn on Custom title bar in Settings to have the window buttons share the top bar, following your desktop's icons and button layout where it can. By @ttmx. (crmne#648)

  • A Now Playing widget under the MacBook notch. Turn on MacBook notch widget in Settings to get the playing song, artwork and controls when you hover the notch while Spotifast is in the background. By @saikumargudelly. (crmne#528)

  • Playlist headers show their saves and the owner's picture, as Spotify's app does. By @renaldypr. (crmne#849, crmne#848)

  • The playing device shows its own icon. When music plays on a phone or computer, the Playing on badge and the device button no longer draw a speaker. By @Espaye. (crmne#833)

  • Added By in Blends, and the name of whoever added a song stays once it is found. By @luisfernalme. (crmne#745, crmne#744)

  • Made for you shows your real Home shelf, in Spotify's order and your language, instead of a guess from four searches. By @hani64. (crmne#802)

  • Less motion when your system asks for it. With Animation effects off in Windows, Reduce motion on macOS or GNOME's Animations off, fades, slides and smooth scrolling show their end at once. By @dennisgr7. (crmne#867)

  • Middle-click autoscroll starts anywhere and stops when you let go, with its speed following the pointer, as in a browser. By @Felitendo. (crmne#650)

  • The player bar's visualizer click can be turned off. Uncheck Click player bar to change visualizer under Settings → Appearance. By @samboland; thanks @jaysuna. (crmne#757, crmne#781)

  • The playing playlist shows pause on its cards and sidebar cover, and the play button spins while the next song loads. By @YuEfSaEDU. (crmne#655, crmne#654)

  • Easier on the battery. Spotifast now follows the system's power and session state, sleeps in the tray until something is due, polls your other devices less while nobody can see it, paces the visualizers and MilkDrop by what is on screen, and lets dual-GPU Macs stay on the integrated GPU. On a metered Windows connection it holds automatic update downloads and large media-control covers. By @dennisgr7. (crmne#728, crmne#730, crmne#733, crmne#732, crmne#736, crmne#735, crmne#726, crmne#681)

  • A faster start. Home is ready sooner, the last library and Home show while Spotify catches up, artist pages read popular songs without waiting on the shared app, and Liked Songs loads a page at a time.
