Litespeed for Mac — desktop preview 3
Litespeed for Mac — desktop preview 3
Download for Apple silicon Macs · Version 0.1.23 · Build 3 · macOS 14 or later
Open the downloaded disk image, drag Litespeed onto Applications, then open Litespeed from Applications. Node and the task browser are included.
This preview is locally signed and not notarized by Apple. If macOS blocks the first launch, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway for Litespeed. See the installation guide.
New in this preview
- Thinking stays where it starts. Thought process appears in the actual response sequence, whether it begins before the answer, after an initial observation, or between passages of text.
- Streaming and saved conversations agree. New responses retain text/thinking transitions through reloads, undo/redo, and export/import. Each thinking section expands independently.
- Consistent terminal presentation. The bundled terminal interface uses the same recorded sequence.
Older conversations did not record ordering within each response. They use thinking-before-text within that response; later thinking is not moved above earlier responses or tool calls.
Update from preview 2
Choose Help & updates → Check for updates, then Update and restart in the Mac app. The app and its local web server update together to Build 3, retaining settings, tasks, and drafts. If work is active, choose Update when idle. Browser users can reload their Litespeed page after the Mac app finishes restarting.
Preview 1 users install this DMG once to gain the updater. New installations are ready for subsequent in-app updates.
Included
- Projects and tasks on the left, a focused conversation, and files, browser, review, and computer views alongside it.
- Persistent file tabs with code, Markdown, image, HTML, and PDF previews; retained reading positions, search, and PDF page/zoom controls.
- A task browser with live previews, tabs, history, downloads, file selection, page comments, inspection, and Find on page.
- Git review, branches, working copies, local scheduled tasks, plugins, and searchable settings.
- Conversation drafts and reading positions that survive task switches, plus compact long messages with Show more.
On first launch, an existing Litespeed setup can be copied into the desktop app's separate data directory. Prompts go to your configured model provider. This desktop preview does not replace the stable terminal release or its updater.
Preview limits
The download supports Apple silicon. Computer control requires the separately installed Cua Driver and working macOS permissions; actual desktop capture remains experimental. The task browser has its own profile and uses a live preview surface. Schedules require the local server to be running. If you already ran preview 1, finish work and restart your Mac once after installing this DMG. Future updates come through the sidebar and restart only Litespeed. See the workflow guide and limits.
The release includes the DMG installer, an update ZIP, and desktop-manifest-darwin-arm64.json with both SHA-256 checksums and byte sizes. No user tasks, provider keys, or browser sign-ins are included in the download.

New in this preview
- A familiar Mac installer. Open the disk image and drag Litespeed onto Applications.
- Updates in the sidebar. A new update icon replaces the question mark when a desktop update is available. Click to download and restart.
- Wait for your work. Active tasks, background commands, queued messages and open terminals keep running. The updater can wait until you finish, and you can cancel the pending restart.
- A complete app restart. The app and its server update together; settings and task history are retained. A failed launch restores the previous app.

Litespeed v0.1.23
Litespeed 0.1.23
Start with a ready-to-use Sidekick Fusion setup. Connect your gateway and review the selected models immediately.
- New setups choose the latest available Astra driver and Sol sidekick, with Shunt off.
- Driver fallbacks: Astra → Fable → Opus → Sol. Sidekick fallbacks: Sol → Opus → Sonnet. Each role chooses the latest available version within the first matching family.
- A gateway with Fable 5.1 and Opus 5.5, but no Astra or Sol, automatically gets Fable 5.1 as driver and Opus 5.5 as sidekick. If none of the supported families are available, setup asks you to choose a model.
- All choices remain editable. Reopening setup shows your saved configuration.
- Gateway discovery includes available family routes omitted from LiteLLM's standard model list. Sol 6 uses the Responses API for streaming, reasoning, tool calls, and tool-result continuation.
- Includes v0.1.22's Allow all tools permission option in setup and live approval prompts.
Run litespeed update, then reopen Litespeed. Use /setup to review or edit your saved choices.
Includes bundled runtimes and the web/terminal apps for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Litespeed v0.1.22
Litespeed 0.1.22
Enable Allow all tools directly from an approval prompt and keep the task moving.
- Terminal approval prompts now offer 5 Allow all tools. Browser approval cards expose the same action. It resumes pending actions and applies to the session and its workers across turns and restarts.
- Permissions use the same Allow all tools label throughout the app, replacing Full access. Remembering one tool or path remains a separate scoped choice.
- Quick setup now shows Permissions in both clients. Select Allow all tools and save to use it for new sessions in this project. Terminal setup offers an explicit three-mode picker.
- Explicit ask/deny rules, Plan mode, and profile restrictions still apply.
- Includes the terminal clipboard image display fixes already merged on main.
Run litespeed update, then reopen Litespeed. For the current session, open /permissions and select Allow all tools, or press 5 when a routine approval appears. To save a project default, use /setup → Permissions → Allow all tools, then save the setup.
Includes bundled runtimes and the web/terminal apps for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Litespeed v0.1.21
Litespeed 0.1.21
Sign in to remote MCP servers, see why a connection failed, and open Integrations with /mcp.
- Browser OAuth sign-in, token refresh, and sign-out for remote MCP servers that support dynamic client registration. Imported configurations use a separate Litespeed sign-in.
- Clear connection errors for sign-in requirements, access denied, DNS, refused connections, certificate failures, timeouts, HTTP errors, and redirects.
/mcpopens Integrations directly in the terminal and browser without sending a chat message.- Paste clipboard images into the terminal with Ctrl+V.
After updating, open /mcp, choose Sign in for a remote server, complete browser consent, and choose Reconnect to load its tools. Servers requiring a pre-registered OAuth client are not supported by this flow.
Includes bundled runtimes and the web/terminal apps for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Run litespeed update and restart after active work finishes.
Litespeed v0.1.20
Litespeed 0.1.20
Fewer interruptions, with clearer approval scopes across the browser, terminal, and CLI.
- Researcher, Sidekick, Team, Expert, and LiteFusion handoffs run automatically; worker actions retain the session's permissions and explicit rules.
- New Allow project edits mode, exact-command shell approvals, and opt-in persistent project grants. Saved modes are preserved; legacy broad grant hashes are retired.
- Approval cards show the actual action and scope. Full access moves out of the approval card shortcuts.
- Optional enforced workspace command confinement, shared by foreground commands, verification, and background jobs. No unrestricted fallback.
- Visible project-rule/hook trust and revocation. Plugin hooks install disabled until explicitly reviewed and enabled.
- Reviewed MCP import-and-connect, exact connected-tool rules, scoped MCP grants, and approval-aware script timeouts.
- Automatic stopping of owned jobs, consistent history confirmations, and direct user-requested context compaction.
- Sidekick Fusion remains recommended; LiteFusion remains experimental.
Includes bundled runtimes and the web/terminal apps for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Run litespeed update and restart after active work finishes.
Litespeed v0.1.19
Litespeed 0.1.19
Sidekick Fusion is the recommended architecture for launch.
- Sidekick Fusion is recommended in the terminal and web architecture pickers and selected for new setups. Choose a strong driver and a cheaper sidekick.
- LiteFusion remains available as Experimental. Existing sessions keep their saved architecture and model choices.
- Includes the MCP integration improvements prepared for 0.1.18: tool search by default, build-mode TypeScript processing, and reviewed imports from Claude Code and Codex configuration.
- Release checks allow more time for cold server startup on Intel Macs, while retaining shutdown, history recovery, install, terminal, and update assertions.
Run litespeed update, then reopen Litespeed after active work finishes. New installations use the latest downloadable bundle.
Includes the terminal runtime and web app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Litespeed v0.1.17
Litespeed 0.1.17
LiteFusion now keeps worker coordination out of your conversation and shows one card per actual task.
- Resuming a worker already on its hard-task route accepts a redundant
hardflag. Changing a default-route worker to its escalation route still requires an explicit escalation. - Rejected handoffs no longer create phantom task numbers. An accepted retry appears on the same task as “Handoff retried successfully,” with readable details collapsed underneath. The card opens the current worker; unresolved handoffs remain visible.
- Internal worker-result messages stay in model context and exports, but no longer dump JSON into terminal or web chat. Existing saved sessions get the same presentation repair.
- Worker cards and the terminal sidebar show bounded status and blocker summaries. Full reports and evidence are available inside the worker inspector. Terminal error details preserve newlines while escaping terminal control sequences.
- Generated terminal-test recordings are excluded from source undo snapshots, preventing repeated test runs from creating command-history conflicts. Source conflict checks remain enabled.
- The release checks now exercise rejected handoffs, successful retries, long blocked-worker reports, inspector navigation, and preserved drafts in the real terminal.
Run litespeed update, then reopen Litespeed after active work finishes. No session reset is needed. An already interrupted task may still need the lead to inspect retained work and explicitly continue it.
Includes the terminal runtime and web app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Tests use local scripted providers; no paid model benchmarks were run.
Litespeed v0.1.16
Litespeed 0.1.16
LiteFusion now connects its specialists automatically, including in existing sessions that were missing saved model connections.
- Connect your gateway and start chatting. The backend discovers matching model identities, keeps explicit choices, and resolves each task to its default model or configured escalation route. If neither is connected, the lead handles the task with a visible explanation.
- Both the terminal and web UI show specialist task coverage, backup usage, and work left to the lead. A gateway with no specialist connections or only the lead model is labeled clearly. First-time setup keeps the detailed roster behind “View model assignments.”
- New setups prefer Opus/high, then Astra/high when supported and listed. If neither is listed, choose your lead once. Existing leads and custom task assignments are preserved.
- Substantial research, implementation, testing and review now default to coherent delegation after brief scoping. Small tasks can stay with the lead. There is no forced worker quota or extra classifier call.
- Terminal streaming markdown no longer flashes incomplete bold/code markers, and live tool rows line up with the collapsed step summaries. Code fences retain their literal content during streaming.
- Discovery is cached and does not run paid probes. Automatic connection repair does not queue an architecture change. Active turns keep their model assignments; explicit model edits show “Model settings updated” and apply after the turn.
Run litespeed update, then reopen Litespeed. Existing LiteFusion sessions discover missing connections automatically; no reset or manual session repair is needed.
Gateway listings do not verify credits, tool support or performance. The routing roster remains a research policy awaiting independent evaluation. Local checks use fake gateways and do not benchmark commercial models.
Packages include the terminal runtime and web app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
