Git hosts (advanced)

Optional. You do not need a git account to set up printers or install plugins. This is only for people who publish plugins or their own signing identity.

Connecting a git account (GitHub or a self-hosted Gitea) lets you publish your signing key so others can verify plugins you sign, and (coming soon) publish your own plugin releases.

Connecting GitHub

Bespok3d uses GitHub's device sign-in, so you never type your password into the app.

1. Go to Settings then Git Host.
2. Click Connect GitHub.
3. The app shows a short code.
4. Open the link it gives you in your browser, enter the code, and approve.
5. Done. Your access is stored securely in your computer's keychain.

You can remove access any time from your GitHub account under Settings then Applications.

Connecting Gitea

For a self-hosted Gitea, Bespok3d uses a personal access token.

1. In your Gitea, create a token (Settings then Applications then Generate Token). Give it read access to repositories, and add write access if you plan to publish.
2. Copy the token.
3. In Bespok3d, go to Settings then Git Host, choose Gitea, enter your server address, and paste the token.
4. Click Save. The app checks the connection and shows your username.

Your token is stored securely in your computer's keychain, never in plain text.

Managing repositories and the connection

Once connected, the Git Host pane lets you list the repositories you publish plugins or lists from. Removing one from the list does not delete anything in the repository itself.

The pane also shows the connected account, with buttons to Disconnect (removes the stored access, changes nothing on GitHub or Gitea) or switch to a different account. You can keep one GitHub and one Gitea connection at the same time.
