OpenCode Model Control 0.2.1 fixes provider-agnostic paid-model role assignment.

What changed

  • Any available, capability-compatible known-paid model can appear in role assignment dropdowns when Paid mode is active, regardless of provider.
  • Selecting a disabled compatible model is the explicit opt-in that enables only that model in the unsaved draft. Automatic never enables models.
  • Unknown-cost, unavailable, and capability-incompatible models remain blocked.
  • Dynamic provider capabilities now refresh in both directions, including fail-closed downgrades.
  • Legacy snapshots restore bundled curated profiles without overwriting live capability restrictions.
  • Zero-score role assignments are rejected consistently.

The original issue was reproduced with xAI Grok on OpenCode for Linux, and the fix is provider-neutral.

Verification

  • 220/220 automated tests passed on Node 22.12 and Node 24.
  • TypeScript checks and production build passed.
  • CodeQL and the repository security-diff review passed with no findings.
  • npm package allowlist, dry-run publish, and disposable global install passed.
  • CLI version from the packed artifact: 0.2.1.

Linux upgrade

Close OpenCode and stop Model Control, then run:

npm install --global opencode-model-control@0.2.1
opencode-model-control --version
opencode-model-control

The version command must print 0.2.1. In Model Control, click Update available models, choose Paid, select the desired compatible paid model for a role, Save changes, then Update connection (or Connect to OpenCode if disconnected). Restart OpenCode afterward.
