D PC port v1.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@Bitsandbreakpoints Bitsandbreakpoints released this 19 Oct 18:08

A small update of the D PC port.

Changes

  • Larger pause menu: the pause menu and its lists of save states now grow with the window – about twice the size in a 1440p window – instead of following only the monitor's DPI setting.
  • All eight save slots fit in the pause menu's save and load lists, without scrolling.

Your saves carry over: states saved with v1.0.0 load in this version (the game's code, game.dll, is the same).

How to update

Download d-pc.zip below and unzip it over the old folder (keep d.exe and game.dll together). settings.ini and the saves folder stay as they are.

You need your own discs – see the README.

D PC port v1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Bitsandbreakpoints Bitsandbreakpoints released this 19 Oct 18:01

The first release of the D PC port: a native Windows version of the PlayStation horror adventure (WARP / Acclaim, 1995), no emulator and no BIOS needed.

You need your own discs. This download contains no movies, pictures, sound or data files from the game. Make images of your own three D (USA) discs (SLUS-00128 / 00173 / 00174) – .bin/.cue or .chd – and choose them in the launcher.

Save anywhere – a first for D

The original has no way to save: two hours of real time, in one sitting. The port adds:

  • Pause at any moment with Start or P – even in a movie, which goes on exactly where it stopped
  • Save states in 8 slots, each with a picture, the disc, the time played and the date – save while exploring, in a movie or in the inventory
  • LOAD GAME in the launcher starts straight from a save (the right disc goes in by itself); saves can be deleted there too
  • Saves are made to survive updates of the port (the game's code is in its own game.dll)

How to play

  1. Download d-pc.zip below and unzip it anywhere (keep d.exe and game.dll together).
  2. Start d.exe (Windows 10 or later).
  3. CHOOSE DISCS → pick all three disc images → PLAY. The disc change happens by itself.

Also

  • Movies decoded like the console's MDEC, with optional smoother colours
  • Internal resolution up to 4×, picture filters: sharp, bilinear, CRT, soft TV
  • Movies/music and effects volume, "Softer bass" for the deep effects
  • Launcher and in-game settings (F1), keyboard and XInput controllers with remapping, skip the logos

See the README for all improvements, the controls and the disclaimer.
