v0.1b
MediEvilRecomp v0.1b
Hello, and thank you for checking out our second recompilation, simply dubbed MediEvilRecomp. This is proudly brought to you by the BlackLabelHQ team, more specifically Derp Princess and Flaffy Granola, which brings widescreen support, scaling aspect ratio, increased draw distance/render distance, increase FPS support, PGXP, Better Terrain, Frame Interpolation, and many other things all natively running directly on your computer, which bring a bit of fresh air to a very much dead 'Skelly Bro'™ named Sir Daniel Wigginbottom Fortesque IV, the 'Hero of Gallowmere'... Ahem, or Sir Daniel Fortesque for short.
Note From Derp: "This game means a lot to me - I hope you enjoy it very much. To Sony, I hope one day you make MediEvil 3 :) .. and that gosh darn MediEvil II Remake - a girl can dream... ahem and if you by chance happen to get the thought of making MediEvil 3 let a girl know hint hint nudge nudge. I'd love to be on the team. (Yes, I'm coping haha)"
This is version 0.1b which means it's an Open Beta. This is not a full release version of the project. Please save your game often. It WILL be updated overtime - you will be prompted to update when we push updates!
Upmost care has been done to ensure that you can complete the game, get all chalices, get all items, use all items, and do 99% of speedrun tricks (err, soldier despawn explodes pretty much like it does on console instead of easily done like on ePSXe -- that'll be changed eventually to account for rendering resources out of bounds :P but it CURRENTLY DOES NOT DO THAT) and void warp doesn't seem to work very well with additional features on... but other than that everything else should work exactly as you expect.
You will probably notice a few sound bits being wonky, these will be fixed but we still appreciate people calling them out so we can catch all of them. PGPX and frame interpolation is not perfect either, but it makes little sense for us to delay things over that.
As with all things BlackLabelHQ, we are proudly anti AI. We made this with tender loving care, and with our Computer Science backgrounds and knowledge of the PlayStation architecture and Mips, that darn rabbit, Assembly. Many of the way that things were made in this involved decompilation of the game.
Note Two From Derp: "The Public Decompilation project does not contain as much as I privately have on my computer, some of these changes were only possible by decompiling the game - I hope to one day fix that so that the world at large can see all of what has been done but it's a mess right now :("
With that being said and cleared up out of the way, please enjoy using your retail NTSC USA English copy of the game.
If for some reason you do not have sound, please install OpenAL and move it into the game folder or the root directory of your drive so that RecompOne runtime can find it.
For steamdeck/bazzite users: run the recomp with run.sh, it will manage the dotnet instalation for imutable distros
