SwitchNOW 1.1.0 - Stability and Experience Update
SwitchNOW 1.1.0
The first major update for SwitchNOW, a native GeForce NOW homebrew client for Nintendo Switch.
Version 1.1.0 combines the improvements developed and tested throughout the 1.0.x branch, with a strong focus on cloud session recovery, network stability, game details, image loading, controls and diagnostics.
Highlights
- Fixed device identity conflicts that could cause
SESSION_LIMIT_PER_DEVICE_EXCEEDED_STATUS. - Automatic detection and safe cleanup of stale CloudMatch sessions belonging to the current Switch.
- Automatic best-region selection with latency testing and optional manual GeForce NOW server selection.
- NVIDIA and experimental GeForce NOW Alliance provider support.
- Improved ICE route selection, RTT measurement and adaptive decode queues for 30 and 60 FPS.
- Redesigned game details with official NVIDIA metadata, descriptions, screenshots, genres and input capabilities.
- Faster multithreaded artwork loading with memory caching, prefetching and corruption protection.
- More reliable in-stream keyboard with remote
EsconZL. - Fully isolated game-description area with bidirectional scrolling, focus outline and
Bshortcut. - Expanded localization and always-available startup diagnostics through
runtime.log.
Cloud Sessions and Authentication
- SwitchNOW now creates and preserves a unique device identity for each installation instead of using a shared test identifier.
- Before starting a game, it checks for stale sessions created by the current device and safely ends them when appropriate.
- If NVIDIA still reports a per-device session limit, SwitchNOW refreshes the session list, renews authorization and retries once.
- Saved accounts continue to renew short-lived authorization tokens without requiring a full manual login each time.
- Provider, identity-provider and streaming-service information is preserved with saved accounts.
- GeForce NOW Alliance providers are discovered dynamically from NVIDIA service data. Availability and compatibility depend on the regional operator.
Streaming, Network and Audio
- ICE candidate pairs are prioritized before connectivity checks to improve route selection.
- Network latency is measured through STUN, with SCTP RTT used as a fallback.
- Decode queue depth adapts to 30 or 60 FPS to reduce accumulated latency without dropping frames too aggressively.
- UDP packets are processed in batches and the network loop uses adaptive idle timing to reduce unnecessary CPU load.
- Audio startup buffering is adaptive to reduce initial crackling without permanently increasing audio latency.
- Current RTT is available in the compact performance overlay.
Game Details and Artwork
- Game pages now use official NVIDIA metadata when available, including descriptions, developer, publisher, genres, age ratings, features and supported input methods.
- The gallery displays actual game screenshots instead of reusing box art or hero banners.
- Centered indicators show the real screenshot count, and screenshots can be browsed with
LandR. - The redundant large box art was removed, allowing a larger title and a cleaner console-focused layout.
- Descriptions have their own focusable area with predictable scrolling in both directions.
- Short descriptions no longer create empty scrollable space, and the layout automatically adapts to games with two or three action buttons.
- Artwork loading now uses three prioritized worker threads, in-flight request deduplication, an in-memory LRU cache and background prefetching.
- Cached images are validated and written atomically so damaged or interrupted downloads cannot block the gallery.
Controls and Keyboard
-+Yopens the in-stream keyboard.- While the keyboard is open,
ZLsends a full remoteEsckey press and release. - Keyboard state is recreated on each opening and automatically recovers after repeated update failures.
- Xbox-style and Nintendo-style ABXY layouts remain available in Settings.
- Priority button delivery and touch cursor handling have been made more reliable.
Interface and Languages
- New interface text, server selection, queue information, game metadata and regional errors are localized.
- Available interface languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Italian, French, Polish and Ukrainian.
- Fixed a settings crash that could occur after saving a changed controller layout.
- Focus restoration is safer after saving settings or changing the interface language.
Diagnostics
sdmc:/switch/SwitchNOW/runtime.logis now written even when extended diagnostics are disabled.- It records key startup, automatic sign-in and HTTP/TLS failure information before streaming begins.
- Passwords, authorization tokens and other secrets are not written to the log.
- The log is size-limited and the previous copy is retained as
runtime.log.previous. - Extended diagnostics can capture detailed ICE candidate-pair state and the selected network route.
Installation
- Download SwitchNOW-1.1.0.zip.
- Extract the
switchfolder to the root of the SD card. - Start Homebrew Menu in application mode by holding
Rwhile opening an installed game. - Launch SwitchNOW.
The standalone SwitchNOW-1.1.0.nro is also provided for manual installation to sdmc:/switch/SwitchNOW/.
Existing saved accounts and settings can remain on the SD card when updating from 1.0.0.
