Feature Request: Add the option to convert 24 words into a 27-word encrypted mnemonic with a passphrase.

You can import wallets with 12, 24, and 27 words, but there's not much talk about the 27 encrypted mnemonics. It would be great to encrypt your 24 words into something more secure with a passphrase, and it would be a fantastic addition.

I did a bit of research, and it seems like this was a feature that the old GreenBits/GreenAddress had, but for some reason, it was partially discontinued in the Blockstream App.

You can only import now, and without the correct passphrase, the checksum doesn't validate. So, only those who used those old wallets have access to this feature. It would be amazing if it came back, as it seems really interesting.

You’re correct: the Blockstream Android app supports restoring legacy 27-word encrypted recovery phrases, but it does not currently create or convert recovery phrases into that format.

The app separately supports standard BIP39 passphrases, which derive a different wallet from the same recovery phrase. We’ll keep this issue open as a feature request for the legacy encrypted-recovery-phrase workflow.
