The universal APK carries every architecture and is only worth taking if you
do not know which one you need. x86 and x86_64 are for emulators.

Nothing needs installing alongside these. FFmpeg, yt-dlp and every other engine
is inside the package.

Spotify, YouTube, YouTube Music, TikTok, Instagram, SoundCloud, X, any video
site yt-dlp knows, and documents and ebooks.

YouTube engines

yt-dlp is the engine everywhere and does the work. When YouTube refuses it, the
app tries others in turn rather than giving up:

  • Desktop — yt-dlp, then YoutubeExplode, then NewPipe, then YouTube.js
  • Android — yt-dlp, then NewPipe, then YouTube.js

Each owns its whole attempt, so a failure is one engine's failure rather than a
half-finished state. When every client that asks YouTube for nothing is still
refused, the app says the connection is the problem and stops, instead of
proving it three more times.

Downloads that fail for a reason no engine can answer — a DRM-protected title,
a full disk, a folder it may not write to — stop where they are.
