1. Configure early Claude Code compaction when enabling configuration sync. Existing sync users receive protection during startup checks; reserve headroom using confirmed upstream capacity while retaining earlier user limits and backing up settings.
2. Normalize upstream context-limit errors so Claude Code can enter its compaction and retry flow. Preserve original transcripts and respect manual changes or explicit auto-compaction opt-outs during background sync.
3. Show the saved compaction window separately from upstream capacity, with clear setup status and guidance for resuming the original conversation.
