Ghost 0.1.7 — Easier Wi-Fi switching

Choose a tag to compare

@Blueturboguy07 Blueturboguy07 released this 14 Sep 10:02

Ghost 0.1.7 makes switching a working phone from USB to Wi-Fi a single action.

  • Ghost offers Switch to Wi-Fi after a working USB session when the computer has Wi-Fi. Stay on USB dismisses it for that phone.
  • Keep the cable connected until Ghost confirms the same phone on Wi-Fi. The current location carries over; running routes hold during the handoff and resume afterward.
  • If opening the Wi-Fi session fails, Ghost tries to recover over USB. A failed recovery stays marked unresolved for Retry or Restore.
  • Android can switch from an authorized USB connection. Android 11+ also retains cable-free pairing under Manual setup and troubleshooting.

Downloads: use mac-arm64 for Apple Silicon, mac-x64 for Intel Mac, or win-x64.exe for 64-bit Windows. These builds are unsigned. Follow the setup guide.

Keep both devices on the same trusted network. USB-assisted Android enables ADB network debugging on port 5555; restart the phone to disable it. iPhone requires iOS 17.4+, Developer Mode and initial USB trust. Android requires 8+ with USB setup, or 11+ for cable-free pairing.

Validation: 133 Node tests, including the wrapper running 22 Python bridge tests; isolated Electron UI and packaged Mac smoke tests pass. Physical Wi-Fi handoff remains unverified. A brief iPhone location interruption may occur while reopening its transport.

Native build run: Windows x64, macOS arm64 and macOS x64 all passed. Release source: dd77694624c22fd91bc89c41ff91ee32af756e47. SHA256SUMS.txt contains the installer hashes.

Ghost 0.1.6 — Wi-Fi connections

@Blueturboguy07 Blueturboguy07 released this 14 Sep 09:26

Ghost can now connect to a phone over the same Wi-Fi network, alongside USB.

  • iPhone on Mac or Windows: trust once over USB, enable Wi-Fi in Ghost, then switch to Wi-Fi. Requires iOS 17.4+ and Developer Mode.
  • Android on Mac or Windows: pair using Android 11+ Wireless debugging. Pairing and connection ports have separate fields; pairing codes are not saved.
  • Fixed locations keep refreshing. Routes keep one-second updates at 45 mph and pause on connection loss.
  • Android phone identity survives changed Wi-Fi ports; a reused address cannot silently target another phone.

Use Connection: USB · Change below the Phone card. The setup guide covers all four computer/phone combinations, USB and Wi-Fi pairing, unsigned-app launch help, restoration and troubleshooting.

Downloads: choose mac-arm64 for Apple Silicon, mac-x64 for Intel Mac, or win-x64.exe for 64-bit Windows. Device tools are bundled. These installers are unsigned. SHA256SUMS.txt contains download checksums.

Validation: 122 automated tests (including 21 Python bridge tests), isolated UI rehearsal, and local packaged Mac checks passed. Physical Wi-Fi location changes have not yet been verified on either host OS. Mac → iPhone USB has been used successfully; automated checks do not establish all four physical combinations.

Native CI passed on Windows x64, macOS arm64 and macOS x64. Build and test run.

Ghost 0.1.5 — USB locations and road routes

Choose a tag to compare

@Blueturboguy07 Blueturboguy07 released this 13 Sep 17:42

Ghost 0.1.5 adds road routes to the USB location app for Mac and Windows.

  • Choose a fixed place with search, a map pin, or coordinates.
  • Plan a driving route with 2–12 stops and move at 45 mph, with a new target every second.
  • Pause, resume, restore real location, and recover the same phone after a USB interruption.
  • Follow the built-in setup survey for Mac/Windows with iPhone/Android.

Install

Read the setup guide or use Publik.

Choose mac-arm64.dmg for an Apple-chip Mac, mac-x64.dmg for Intel Mac, or win-x64.exe for a Windows Intel/AMD PC. ZIP files are alternate Mac downloads. The phone runtimes are bundled; no Node.js, Python, or developer IDE is needed.

These installers are unsigned and the Mac builds are not notarized. The guide covers the operating system's launch prompts. SHA256SUMS.txt records the exact installer checksums.

Validation and limits

All three installers come from the same native CI run, source commit cb0ccc0ecb4c6168dfa996458b0a3b62e2081d4f. CI builds and launches the bundled phone runtimes and runs the adapter tests on Windows x64, macOS arm64, and macOS x64.

Mac → iPhone has been used on a physical phone. The other USB combinations have automated software coverage, but have not all been tested with real phones. A command acknowledgement is not proof that a particular phone app accepted the simulated location.

Keep Ghost running, your computer awake, and the USB cable connected. Restore before unplugging. iPhone support targets iOS 17.4+; Android targets 8+. Search, map tiles, and route planning require public online services. See the guide for privacy and recovery details.
