Version 1.4.0 represents a modernization of FoodTracker’s backend, rebuilt for immersion, seamless Vanilla integration, and stability improvements.

Code bloat has been cut, massive walls of code have been replaced with precise transpiler patches, and the mod is now significantly heavier and faster. Here is what that means for your colonists.

Drugs, Drinks, and Scaling Effects

If you can eat half a meal, you should be able to drink half a beer. FoodTracker now officially supports partial ingestibles for drugs and beverages (Beer, Psychite Tea, Go-Juice, Flake, etc.).

  • Scaled Buzz: The chemical, joy, and rest effects you get are now directly scaled to the exact fraction of the item your pawn consumed.
  • No Wasted Stash: Get interrupted mid drink? Your pawn drops a partially finished beverage that retains its remaining value and effects for later. (Note: High severity and overdose mechanics have been carefully balanced to respect these partial ingestions).

Immersion in Caravans & Trading

The illusion of partial meals breaking when you leave your home tile is gone. A new 0-1 fractional tracking system under the hood means every single physical item knows exactly how much of it is left, and the game’s UI now reflects this.

  • Accurate Trade Values: A half-eaten survival meal is now worth exactly half the silver.
  • True Caravan Mass: Partial meals now weigh less in your caravan inventory.
  • Estimated Food Integration: The vanilla caravan food consumption simulation has been heavily patched to respect partials. Tracked meals are calculated without overriding standard Vanilla mechanics.

Smarter Pawns & Reworked Merging/Splitting

Previously, pawns ignored FoodTracker meals when wandering around the map, now they don't.

  • ThingFilter Integration: FT meals are now treated exactly like Vanilla meals. Pawns will autonomously pack them in their inventory, take them on caravans, and eat them naturally.
  • Better Merging & Splitting: The logic for combining and dividing stacks has been completely rewritten with transpilers.
  • No More "Batch" Foods: Pemmican and similar foods (formerly known as Batch Foods) now track just like normal meals. Any food item that drops below 0.01 nutrition is simply destroyed to keep your inventory clean.

Stability & Bug Fixes

  • Accurate Interruption Detection: The old, bulky DestroyedFoodRecovery system is gone. It has been replaced with a clean patch that tracks meal interruptions with excellent accuracy.
  • Backward Compatibility: Whether you are updating from v1.3.0 or a save file using v1.0.0, your tracked meals and data will migrate to the new fractional system seamlessly upon loading.
  • Short Hash Fix: The short hash generation bug is completely resolved, utilizing native Vanilla hashing to ensure correct handling for dynamic defs.
This update bridges the gap between a tracking utility and a fully immersive Vanilla mechanic. Let me know how the new drug scaling and caravan weight systems feel in your playthroughs!
