v0.7.1 — semantic search fix
Semantic search no longer auto-downloads the embedding model during normal search (which could hang when HuggingFace is unreachable). The index is now built explicitly via the new reindex tool; search only uses an existing index and always falls back to keyword search instantly. 28 tests passing.
v0.7.0 — Daily notes, auto-memory, semantic search
JARVIS v0.7.0
Daily notes, auto-memory, richer UI, and semantic search.
New in this release
- Daily notes + Inbox workflow —
daily_notecreates/linksDaily/YYYY-MM-DD.md(frontmatter, link to yesterday);triage_inboxarchives Inbox notes intoArchive/YYYY/MM/. - Auto-memory — on exit, JARVIS summarizes the session and extracts durable facts into
Sessions/in Obsidian. Disable withJARVIS_AUTO_MEMORY=0. - Richer UI — a "Thinking…" spinner while the model streams, and nicer tool-result rendering.
- Semantic search — optional vector search via
fastembed(ONNX, no torch), blended with the existing keyword search. Enable withpip install -e ".[semantic]"; falls back to keyword-only otherwise.
Install
pip install -e ".[dev]"
# optional extras:
pip install -e ".[mcp,semantic]"Tests
26 passing (semantic test skips unless fastembed is installed).
v0.6.1 — Time awareness + MCP fix
JARVIS v0.6.1
Time awareness + MCP robustness fix.
Changes
- Time awareness — the current date and time (local timezone) is now injected into the system prompt at session start, and a new
get_timetool lets JARVIS query the precise time on demand. This matters for the Second Brain: dated notes, deadlines, scheduling and any "today"/"now" reference. - MCP fix — stdio connections now run inside a single long-lived async task, fixing an intermittent
cancel scopeteardown error when calling MCP tools.
Tests
24 passing.
v0.6.0
JARVIS v0.6.0
Second Brain + Coding Assistant. Terminal-first, Claude Code-style.
New in this release
- Pretty Obsidian notes —
save_memorynow adds YAML frontmatter (title, created, tags) and a## Relatedsection with[[wikilinks]]to related notes, keeping the Obsidian graph tidy. - Terminal system tools —
open_url,open_app,notify,clipboard_copy,clipboard_read,screenshot(screenshot asks for permission, likerun_command). - MCP support — connect MCP servers (Gmail, Slack, etc.) via
~/.jarvis/mcp.json; tools appear asmcp__<server>__<tool>. Optional:pip install -e ".[mcp]". - CI/CD — GitHub Actions: tests run on every push/PR (Python 3.11–3.13), and tagged pushes auto-create releases.
Full changelog
- Note design: frontmatter + wikilink linking, stricter duplicate detection.
- System plugin: 6 terminal tools, permission-gated screenshot.
- MCP client: async bridge + plugin,
mcp<2pinned. - CI:
.github/workflows/ci.ymlandrelease.yml. - Tests: 24 passing (added memory plugin, plugin discovery, and MCP tests).
Install
pip install -e ".[dev]"For MCP: pip install -e ".[dev,mcp]"
v0.5.0 — Second Brain + Coding Assistant
JARVIS v0.5.0
A Claude Code-style terminal assistant: personal Second Brain (Obsidian) + coding assistant, powered by DeepSeek.
