BetterWayland 0.1.0-beta.4

BetterWayland 0.1.0-beta.4 fixes a native Wayland startup failure on Minecraft 1.20.1 and lowers the Loader requirement for legacy Minecraft builds.

Fixes

• Skip Minecraft's unsupported glfwSetWindowIcon call on native Wayland. This prevents GLFW error 65548 (The platform does not support setting the window icon) during 1.20.1 startup.
• Keep the normal window-icon behavior on X11/XWayland.
• Use Fabric Loader 0.14.21 as the minimum for 1.20.x and 1.21.x artifacts.
• Keep the 0.19.2 minimum for 26.x artifacts, which use newer Mixin callback ordering.

Compatibility

This release contains 12 Fabric JARs covering the project's configured Minecraft protocol groups from 1.20.1 through 26.2. Select the JAR matching the Minecraft version range shown in the filename and metadata.

The project remains a beta for Linux x86_64 Wayland sessions. It keeps GLFW as the backend and remains incompatible with BorderlessFullscreen/FullscreenFix. Simultaneous use of IMBlocker is not recommended.

BetterWayland 0.1.0-beta.3

BetterWayland is the renamed continuation of WaylandFix. The new Fabric mod ID
is betterwayland; remove any waylandfix beta.2 jar before installing it.

Highlights

• Keeps GLFW as Minecraft's window and input backend and bundles the verified
  native Wayland patchset.
• Fixes fullscreen size synchronization, fractional scaling, cursor behavior,
  focus-related stuck keys, and the duplicated chat-opening character.
• Adds native IME focus, candidate positioning, preedit lifecycle, control-key
  isolation, and gameplay IME isolation on 26.x.
• Adds cross-version preprocessing and protocol-group artifacts from Minecraft
  1.20 through 26.2.
• Adds the BetterWayland name, mod ID, package namespace, icon, and bilingual
  README.

Minecraft 1.20.2 and 1.21.6 use separate protocols and do not have artifacts in
this release. The 1.20.x/1.21.x jars contain the GLFW, window, fullscreen,
focus, and chat-opening fixes; full native IME integration is available on
26.x.

Compatibility

• Linux x86_64 Wayland and Fabric Loader 0.19.2 or newer.
• Intentionally incompatible with BorderlessFullscreen/FullscreenFix.
• Using IMBlocker at the same time is not recommended.

This remains a beta. The 26.1.x and 26.2 builds have received in-game testing;
older protocol-group artifacts have build, mapping, packaging, and CI coverage
but still need broader runtime testing.

WaylandFix 0.1.0-beta.2

Beta release for Minecraft 26.1.2.

Highlights:

• GLFW remains the window/input backend; no SDL3 replacement.
• Native Wayland platform selection and bundled patched GLFW.
• Fullscreen and fractional-scaling callback fixes.
• Wayland IME preedit, candidate positioning, focus reset, and gameplay IME isolation.
• JEI text-field routing and focus cleanup.

BorderlessFullscreen/FullscreenFix (fullscreenfix) is intentionally incompatible.
IMBlocker is not declared incompatible, but using it together on Linux is not
recommended because it intercepts the same IME callbacks.

WaylandFix 0.1.0 Beta 1

First tested beta for Minecraft 26.1.2 Fabric.

Highlights:

• Keeps GLFW and selects its native Wayland backend.
• Bundles a pinned LWJGL-CI GLFW build with Wayland fullscreen, scaling, cursor and IME patches.
• Fixes duplicate chat-opening characters and stale preedit state.
• Converts candidate rectangles to Wayland logical coordinates.
• Keeps the native fcitx candidate window while suppressing Minecraft's duplicate floating preedit box.
• Reconciles fullscreen/window framebuffer sizes and releases stuck keys on focus loss.

Tested with Prism Launcher XPlus 26.1.2 on niri. BorderlessFullscreen (fullscreenfix) is declared incompatible; IMBlocker is not recommended on Linux because it replaces the same preedit path.
