ShyneBeauty

ShyneBeauty is an internal operations app for a small skincare business. Staff sign in to one admin surface and manage customers, orders, inventory, production batches, product lots, shipments, and order status. It runs on Flask with SQLite behind it.

This is a Kent State University Capstone project, Spring 2026.

Where to start

  • Getting Started: install, seed demo data, and run the app locally.
  • Architecture: how the Flask package, request hooks, and the two databases fit together.
  • Data Model: the schema, table by table, with an ER diagram.
  • Testing: the pytest suite and the accessibility smoke job.
  • My Contributions: what Brandon built, with team credit.
  • Roadmap: what is in place and what could come next.

At a glance

  • Flask app organized as the shyne_app/ package (app, config, extensions, models, auth, access, routes, admin, cli, rate_limit).
  • SQLite split into a business database and a separate auth database.
  • Role-based access with four roles and a per-route permission decorator.
  • Password hashing, account lockout, IP throttling, and opt-in TOTP multi-factor auth.
  • A pytest suite plus GitHub Actions CI on Python 3.10 and 3.12.

Team

A Kent State Capstone team built ShyneBeauty in Spring 2026: Brandon Robare, Melanie Waddle, Bianca Amoako, and Peyton Fazio. See My Contributions for the breakdown.
