Changes:

  • Updated embedded Consul module from 0.20.0 to 0.40.0, which should suppress warnings like the following: 
    [WARN]  agent.http: This request used the token query parameter which is deprecated and will be removed in Consul 1.17: logUrl="/v1/kv/cfg%2Fmy-service%2F?recurse=true&index=33673367&wait=30s&token=<hidden>"
  • This should open up support for Consul >=1.17
  • Dropped pre-ES6 support. This ended up being a being impossible as the Consul module had a dependency (papi), which required ES6 support once Consul hit 0.34.0. Additionally, this really meant that I'm only dropping support for Node.js <6, which is only a very small slice, and in 2024 is a huge liability. I will probably be pushing updates even future, and list pinned versions in the README.md in case anyone needs support for older Node.js versions.
  • Added unit tests, and minor ES6 code refactoring.
