What changed since 0.9.0
A paste that goes nowhere is now reported as one. The desktop and the taskbar read the clipboard when they receive Ctrl+V, so a transcript sent there looked like a success in every signal the app had while the user saw nothing arrive. The app now stops before the keystroke, leaves the text on the clipboard and says which window was in front.
The app is no longer Greek on the inside. The model descriptions were written in Greek in the code, so an English interface still showed Greek text, and an unread settings file fell back to Greek. Both are fixed, and the interface now defaults to English.
A fresh install reads the language Windows is set to, once, before there are any settings to overwrite. Greek gets the Greek interface and Greek-with-English dictation; everyone else gets English and their own language alone, which is faster and more accurate than auto-detect. Both remain changeable under Settings, Language, where the two language controls now sit together.
Settings, Speech models says which device the engine is running on right now and splits its settings into what works the graphics card and what works the processor, each with the reason behind the number.
An event journal is written next to the logs: one line per event in events-YYYY-MM-DD.jsonl, seven days kept. It records what happened, in what order and what failed, and never the text you dictate. A hidden debug mode (five clicks on the Diagnostics title) shows those events in the app, filters to problems only, and copies a bundle with the machine, the settings and the last 300 events. If something breaks, that bundle is what makes it readable.
What is in the installer
Nothing is downloaded later. The package carries the speech engine built with the Vulkan backend, which accelerates on AMD, Intel and NVIDIA cards alike and falls back to the processor when there is no card; both speech models (large-v3-q5_0 for accuracy, large-v3-turbo-q5_0 for speed); the Silero voice activity detector; and the WebView2 bootstrapper for a machine that lacks it.
The first start reads the machine and picks the backend, the model that fits the graphics memory and the thread count that fits the processor.
Speed
On an RTX 3070, from releasing the key to the text appearing: 108 words after 82 s of speech in 0.17 s, 312 words after 152 s in 0.88 s. Each finished phrase is transcribed while you are still talking, so only the last sentence is left when you stop.
Engine comparison, same card, same 5 s Greek phrase, large-v3-q5_0: Vulkan 593 ms, CUDA 663 ms, processor alone 12.5 s.
Install
Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" dialog because the installer carries no purchased signature. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". The install needs no administrator rights and about 1.7 GB of disk.
SHA256SUMS.txt holds the checksum of the installer.
Known limits
This is a beta. Cards from AMD and Intel are served by the Vulkan build, which was measured on an NVIDIA card only; reports from other hardware are welcome, and the journal now records exactly what the app chose for your machine. A chat box that locks itself right after a message is sent can still drop the paste, in which case the text stays on the clipboard and Ctrl+V puts it in. The question mark added from the rise of your voice is tuned on one speaker; the toggle is in Settings, Transcript cleanup.
