Publishing

DasBook can export your book as a PDF or EPUB (or both at once). Every time you publish, DasBook locks the current version and bumps the version number.

How to Publish

  1. Click Publish in the left sidebar (or go to Settings > Publishing)
  2. Configure your settings (see below)
  3. Click Publish v1.0 (or whatever your current version is)
  4. DasBook generates both a PDF and an EPUB
  5. Click the file to open it, or click the green download button to save it to your Downloads folder

Publication Settings

All settings are saved per universe and remembered between sessions.

Author & Copyright

  • Author Name — appears on the title page ("by Your Name") and in the page footer
  • Copyright Notice — the text after the copyright symbol. Just type "2026 Your Name. All rights reserved." — DasBook adds the symbol automatically

Page Layout (PDF only)

  • Page Size — 6x9 (standard trade paperback), 5.5x8.5, 5x8, or Letter
  • Font — choose from five book fonts, each shown in its own typeface in the dropdown
  • Font Size — 11pt to 20pt
  • Line Spacing — 1.0x (tight) to 3.0x (double-spaced)
  • Margins — 0.25" to 1.0"

Structure

  • Chapters on new page — each chapter starts on a fresh page
  • Page numbers — shown at the bottom of every page

ARC / Review Copies

  • Watermark — adds text like "ADVANCE READER COPY — NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION" to every page footer
  • Uncorrected Proof notice — adds a standard proof disclaimer to the title page

PDF vs. EPUB

Both formats include your title page, copyright page, and all chapters with scenes.

Version History

Every publication is saved with its version number. You can see all past versions in the Publishing tab, open them, download them, or delete them.

What Gets Published

DasBook compiles all Books > Chapters > Scenes that have "Include in Compile" enabled (it's on by default). Characters, research, timelines, documents, and codex entries are NOT included in the published output — they're your working materials.
