@Bruce-Devlin Bruce-Devlin released this 29 Jul 16:22

Questory 1.0.2 makes it easier to get started, complete your library details, and install future updates.

What’s new

  • Check for Questory updates directly from Settings.
  • Follow new mascot-led guides for the app, provider integrations, and encrypted local-network sync.
  • Enrich linked library titles with the new bulk data lookup, including visible progress.
  • Synchronise completed tutorial state between paired devices.
  • Clear library searches with one action.

Improvements

  • More reliable metadata retrieval when TMDB, RAWG, or Steam limits requests.
  • Richer metadata for imported and linked titles without overwriting tracking history or personal ratings.
  • Tutorial examples remain separate from your real library.
  • Improved website download, community, accessibility, and visual presentation.

Updating

Questory stores your library locally. Exporting a backup before updating is recommended.

  • Windows: close Questory, extract the portable ZIP, and run Questory-Portable.exe.
  • Android: open the signed APK and approve the update.

The Android package uses the same development signing certificate as Questory 1.0.1, allowing existing sideloaded installations to update. It is not Play Store production-signed.

Provider metadata, artwork, ratings, releases, catalogue results, and update checks require an internet connection and may require provider configuration.

Questory 1.0.1 — First Release

Your story through entertainment.
Questory is a local-first personal tracker for films, television and games. This first release brings your watch history, backlog and play history together in one private library—without requiring a Questory account.

What you can do

  • Track movies, TV shows and games in one place.
  • Organise titles as Planned, In Progress, Paused, Completed or Dropped.
  • Keep episode-level progress for TV, record film watches, and log game sessions, playtime, completion and notes.
  • Start a new TV rewatch cycle without losing your original completed history.
  • Pick up where you left off with Home views for Continue Watching, Continue Playing and Next Up.
  • Search, filter and sort your personal library by media type and status.
  • Browse provider-backed discovery results, releases and recommendations, then review the available details before adding a title.
  • Use Swipe discovery for a quick, keyboard- and touch-friendly way to add, pass on, ignore or inspect suggested titles.
  • Import supported tracking exports, including Trakt archives, to begin with existing history.
  • Connect optional services for metadata and catalogue features, including TMDB, RAWG and Steam. Steam can import visible owned games and playtime.
  • Export a complete versioned Questory backup. Credentials are excluded.
  • Pair trusted Questory devices on the same local network and synchronise over an encrypted connection.
  • Set spoiler protection, release reminders, language and media-interest preferences.

Your data stays yours

Questory stores your profile, library, progress and activity on your device in SQLite. There is no Questory account or Questory-hosted cloud service. You can export your library whenever you want, and optional provider connections are used only for the features you choose to enable.

Provider data—such as artwork, descriptions, releases, ratings and catalogue results—requires an internet connection and the relevant provider configuration. Provider availability and the detail they supply can vary.

Included platforms

This release is intended for Windows and Android. Install the package supplied for your device; platform availability may vary by the distribution channel.

Getting started

  1. Open Questory and complete the local profile setup.
  2. Choose Movies, TV Shows and/or Games.
  3. Add a title from Discover or start building your library manually.
  4. Update progress as you watch or play.
  5. Open Settings to connect providers, import prior history, export a backup or pair another device.

A note on third-party services

Questory is an independent app. TMDB, RAWG and Steam are optional third-party services and remain responsible for their own data, accounts, availability and terms. Questory shows provider attribution where external information is used.

Thank you for joining Questory at the beginning. This is the foundation: a personal, portable record of the stories you watch and play.
