This is the second Beta release (0.6) of The Lunduke Computer Operating System (LCOS).
Lots of big changes in this update.
The big news: LCOS now has its own, custom Linux kernel. The previously used, upstream (6.x, Devuan) kernel will continue to be the default in the ISO until the new "Lunduke" kernel has had some more testing. There's also a new text editor in the repository (Lunduke Edit), which more closely follows the LCOS vision.
Some Noteworthy Changes from 0.5 to 0.6:
- Optional, in Repo: New, Rust-free, LCOS specific Linux Kernel ("lunduke-linux-kernel").
- The Lunduke Linux Kernel is based on 7.2.6, ISO still ships with upstream 6.x kernel by default.
- Optional, in Repo: New LCOS styled text editor ("lunduke-edit").
- Trash and Removable Media are back on the desktop and file manager.
- Standard user folders (Desktop, Downloads, etc.) are back in the file manager sidebar.
- Fix for encrypted drives in the installer.
- Fix for boot issue with some GPUs (including in QEMU).
- Fixes (various, mostly UI refinement) for Lunduke Paint (updated to 0.6)
- Fixes for LCOS Updater.
- Ping and Curl added back into the base system. Because... it's Ping and Curl.
Reminder: LCOS 0.6 is a Beta release and, while it is a fully functional (and awesome) system, it is primarily for testing purposes.
