GeoKode v0.1.0-alpha01

First alpha release of GeoKode, a Kotlin Multiplatform geocoding library that provides free, native geocoding capabilities for Android and iOS platforms.

Overview

This initial release provides basic geocoding functionality using platform-native implementations:

  • Android: Uses native Geocoder with configurable result limits
  • iOS: Implements CLGeocoder for native iOS geocoding

Features

  • Unified Kotlin Multiplatform API for geocoding
  • Support for both single-string and component-based address inputs
  • Detailed location results including:
    • Latitude/Longitude coordinates
    • Address components
    • Administrative areas
    • Postal codes
    • Country information

Implementation Notes

Android

  • Full implementation with Android Geocoder
  • Supports Android API 21 and above
  • Handles API differences for Android 13+ (Tiramisu)
  • Configurable maximum results (1-5)

iOS

  • Full implementation with iOS CLGeocoder

Known Limitations

  • Future iOS testing paused pending hardware availability
  • Platform-specific rate limits apply
  • No offline support
  • No caching mechanism yet
